This 1959 Jaguar MK IX was acquired around 1991 by the father of the current owner, to whom ownership was transferred in 2021. Finished in white over red, the car is powered by a 3.8L inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The electrical system has been updated to 12 volts, and equipment incudes a sunroof, driving lamps, a Sony cassette stereo, rear-seat tray tables, dual SU carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, and steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. This Jaguar sedan is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a California title.
The car is said to have been repainted in white under prior ownership. Exterior details include front driving lamps, fender-mounted side mirrors, bright bumpers and trim, and rear-wheel spats. The seller has not attempted to open the sliding sunroof. Rust is noted on the hood, trunk lid, and lower body panels.
White-painted steel 16″ wheels wear Jaguar-branded hubcaps and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs.
The front bucket and rear bench seating surfaces are trimmed in red upholstery. Woodgrain trim extends from the dashboard to the tops of the door panels, and amenities consist of a Sony cassette stereo, folding rear-seat tray tables, a locking glovebox, front lap belts, and a passenger-side grab handle. The starter button reportedly was replaced in preparation for the sale. The carpeting is worn, the dashboard is peeling, and the seat upholstery and the driver’s armrest are torn.
A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a central instrument panel housing Smiths gauges that include a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary readouts. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, and approximately 300 miles have been added under current ownership. The speedometer and the odometer are inoperative, and true mileage is unknown.
The 3.8L inline-six is equipped with two SU carburetors. The electrical system has been updated to 12-volt operation, and an electric fuel pump has been installed. The fuel tanks are said to have been emptied and cleaned in late 2023, and the fuel lines were replaced. The seller states that the driver-side fuel tank should be replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Corrosion is noted on underbody components.
The vehicle’s chassis number is 791836BW, although the California title omits the “BW” suffix.
