Ebay item 6/7/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Classic-Jaguar-Mark-IX-Sedan-6cyl-Automatic-Low-miles-/1 ...
Classified ad, asking $8,999. 41k miles.

Sellers description:
This is a very solid car with a very good interior. The engine runs strong, and does not smoke. The trans is good and shifts solid. I have installed a new fuel pump, and had one of the fuel tanks redone. I installed a new master cylinder and brake booster. I bought the car out of 20 year storage. It is currently registered and drives well. There are some issues with the lighting system (lucas, prince of darkness) Headlights, tail lights, brake and fog lights work. Charging system works. There is some surface rust, and rub through on the paint, but there is no rot or rust holes. Trim is in good condition.

Car returns to ebay 4/29/16

Car has a buy it now price of $12,000 for 6 days. Car now said to be in Freeport, New York, seller bobbyniv, 85k miles.

Sellers description:
1960 Jaguar MK IX or 9

Car is used regularly, runs and stops and rides fine. Always starts right up. Everything works except what I mention below. Very eye catching, lots of thumbs up.

4 door sedan. Includes manual sunroof, PS, 4 wheel power disc brakes, torsion bar front end. Automatic Transmission. Jaguar 6 cylinder with dual carbs. I have the air cleaner and manifold, I took them off to adjust the carbs. New Pertronix Ignitor solid state distributor. Runs much better.

2 electric fuel pumps, one Jaguar not working, one Mister Gasket, works fine. Both old gas tanks have been removed and one new Moeller polymer tank installed in trunk, see photos, both fuel pumps work off the one tank and gauge works fine. Second Jaguar pump may still be installed but not used, I'll have to look.

Some of the gauges have been replaced with after market ones. The gas, temperature, ammeter. The tachometer does not work but is all there, speedometer works fine. Wiper motor only works on higher speed, I tried but have no idea on how to fix the motor, switch is ok.

System changed to 12 volt negative ground. Has AM/FM/CD with 4 speakers.

Emergency brake needs new cables, all parts there but it never really worked well. The second gear manual cut in is new but needs attention. Transmission rebuilt last year. Steering box rebuilt recently.

The car is basically original, I haven't changed anything major except what I mentioned above. The paint is fair but nice, windshield trim is old rubber but I have the front chrome piece. No leaks on windshield or sunroof. A little rust on lower panels. Have shop manual, well used.Have some of the parts I removed, the ignition wire holder, fuel bowls, gauges, old distributor, another Pertronix Ignitor distributor which may or may not work. .

Interior is good, few little nicks in the leather. Has 3 point seat belts in rear seat for kids. Headliner is fine and wood is nice. I have some tools in tool kit. I have the little purple globes for the dash lights.

Car comes with four-16x7 wire wheels, proper hubs and spinners. Fair condition with some rust on spokes but they fit the radial tires on the car. Could be cleaned up easily. Original wheels are on car, have spare in trunk. Wheels on car have spacers so that the wire wheels would clear all, I just never took them off, so car has a little wider stance.

License plates go with car but we'll have to deal with motor vehicle department.

This is a nice driver that is a real head turner. It runs well but for those of you not used to it, this is an old Jaguar, which means patience is required.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
