Auction description:
Brands Hatch Sports Racing and Grand Prix Cars Sunday 25th May 2008
Lot 226
1960 Jaguar Mk. II 3.8L M/OD
Registration no: 463AOV
Chassis no: 200544ND
Estimate: £20,000-30,000
First registered on March 3rd 1960, this superb Mk 2 is not only a 3.8 litre model fitted with the much sought-after manual gearbox with overdrive and chrome wire wheels, it is also an early example with many rare features such as a 100psi oil temperature gauge, recessed sun visors and the oil bath in the wing for the carburettor air cleaner, and it even still retains its original Garrington adjustable spanner. The subject of a comprehensive and no expense-spared restoration lasting five years, which was completed in 1990, 463 AOV subsequently won many Concours d'Elegance awards before appearing on the front cover of the June 1994 issue of Classic and Sportscar, in which it was also used to illustrate a Best Buy feature on the Jaguar Mk 2, a copy of which accompanies the car.
Most attractively finished in Carmen Red with complementary black leather interior, it is offered in excellent condition and comes complete with service history, the original Operating, Maintenance and Service Handbook, original Maintenance Chart, V5 and V5C registration documents, old road fund licence discs, old MoT test certificates and a current one valid until July. An exceptionally fine example of the ultimate Jaguar Mk 2 model.
