Sellers description:
1958 Mark 1 Jaguar with overdrive. This car started its life in New Zealand and the original Certificate of registration is included. I purchased this car in 2006 and began the rebuild process. I have had the radiator re-cored ($800),. Replaced most of the rubber around the vehicle, (650.00). Added a new gooseneck to the top of the engine block from the radiator from a special re-casting in London ($125.00). I replaced all hoses and belts ($238.00). I had a local upholsterer rebuild the front and back seats using all new foam and beautiful leather seats and have installed a matching red rug set ($1,125.00). I found and installed the correct Trico Vacuum Glass window washing reservoir and related tubing ($565.00). Tires are in excellent shape (5) with the correct hubcaps. In the boot is the original jack and cranking pieces. All of the chrome is in excellent shape and the leaper is magnificent. I have only driven this car only on dry days and it has been in very secure storage since the day it came to me. There is a brand new battery installed. All glass is in excellent shape. The burled walnut woodwork is in acceptable condition but should receive cleaning and sealing to be made perfect. The headliner is clean and free from stains or defects. The body: doors open and close properly, windows operate freely, all lines and margins are straight and constant. Interior door panels could use a cleaning. There are no rust pockets in the typical A and B pillar locations. Fenders are rust free, doors are rust free with the exception of the passenger door rear right where there is a small bubble the size of a dime mid-door. Paint looks like a re-do to me, it is serviceable but won't win any concourse awards. I have discovered rust in the base of the spare tire boot. The engine is very strong and holds oil pressure under load. There are no oil leaks. The mufflers are in excellent condition, The manual transmission goes through the gears easily. The emergency brake is functional. After market seatbelt are included for the front, the appear to be of the very first generation of seatbelts.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
