Car was at auction 9/12
classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php

Auction description:
Lot number 3
Hammer value N/S (est. £4,000 - £6,000)
Description Jaguar 420 Saloon
Registration VJD 214G
Year 1968
Colour Green
Engine size 4,235 cc
Chassis No. P1F8262BW
Engine No. 7F10995-8

This particular 420 automatic was first registered in November 1968 and was acquired by the founder of the Stondon Motor Museum in 1985. The bodywork appears to be in good condition throughout but the dark green paintwork is rather poor. The tan leather interior is all original and in largely good condition with a pleasing patina.

Although it is in running order, the car has not been used on the road for some time and will doubtless benefit from some recommissioning before being put back into use. It comes with an owner's handbook and a modern V5C.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
