Ebay item 5/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-420-Sedan-Jaguar-1967-420-low-miles-manual-w-O-D- ...
Auction ended at $1,282 reserve not met after 28 bids. Buy it now price $4,450.

Sellers description:
This 420 is one of the most amazing Jaguars I have ever run across in my 38 + years of collecting and restoring British Sports cars. The car is a genuine fully documented 86,000 mile one owner car. I have all paperwork from new for the car. The car was delivered to the owner (a professor at the university of California Berkeley) at the factory as a "European delivery". After being used for a continental vacation, the factory shipped the car home to The San Francisco Bay area, where it spent the rest of its life. All service is documented and has been performed at factory sponsored service outlets. The car was in storage for over 10 years before I purchased it. Upon purchasing the car, I put it into a local British Sports car shop, where I has it gone over and made ready to be driven. It now starts easily and runs well. It has very good oil pressure and will require only a full tune up in order to be used daily. The transmission shifts well and the overdrive works. The brake system is fully operational with the exception of the emergence brake.

As the car has spent its entire life in California, it is major rust free. There is minor rust along the bottom of the two right side doors as well as the bottom of the two front fenders. This was from being parked without first cleaning out the drain holes. All of the afore mentioned rust is quite minor. There is some surface rust on the body. None of this rust is through the metal, and all of it will be repaired by painting the car. The floors are bone dry and all components are excellent and will only require cosmetic restoration. The interior will need to be replaced , and all wood will need to be refinished.

Car is apparently now on the California coast south of Ft. Bragg in an area called Caspar. I seems that a restoration has been started by a person who has developed health problems. He has been posting a for sale listing on the San Fransisco Craig's List for a while. It has been repainted in the original Willow Green and he seems to have a bunch of items collected for the restoration. the following is the text from that listing which includes contact info.

1967 Jaguar 420, 4sp man w/od, wire wheels, LOW Miles - $10500 (mendocino county)

Date: 2008-03-15, 12:48PM PDT

1967 Jaguar 420 sedan. Restoration in progress. Documented ONE OWNER FROM NEW WITH ALL RECORDS, 86,000 ORIGINAL! miles! The car was in dry storage for many years. The car is equipped with Wire wheels, 4 Speed Manual transmission with overdrive! It also comes complete with a BRAND NEW Leather interior custom built for me in England! The damage and rust free body has benefited from a full hi end paint job as well as a major mechanical service! In short, the restoration is over 85% complete and now awaits finial assembly! In keeping with the exclusivity of this project it also comes with a very rare 3 carburetor Set up that uses 2" SU carburetors and a high performance intake manifold. New Glass, and rubber gaskets as well as a entire new paded dash board surround! With all new door panels, and trim wood you should be ready to show and drive this stunning machine with very little finish work. Your Love and TLC will contribute in making this Restoration very special indeed! The best part of the car is yet to come! In my 40+ years of collecting and building these fine cars I have never run across a car with better provenance. This unbelievable set of documents includes (but is not limited to) the original build sheets, the "Euro Delivery" paperwork, original "Window sticker" and all receipts and services from new! I have NEVER seen such a well documented car. The car is so well documented, that it is if you have knew the car from NEW! The car runs and drives, is registered and is 100% complete! With very little money, a few weekends and a set of hand tools you could be on your way to driving one of the most collectable and elegant British Sports sedans ever built!
I have plenty of great photos that I will be very happy to send, so please ask.

I look forward to hearing from you. My phone number is: (707) 964-4905 E Mail address is (OlJagGuy@aol.com) Cheers! Chris

Car returns to ebay 12/18/15

Current bid US $2,750 reserve not met 6 bids 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Portland, Oregon, seller pablogustav, 83k miles.

Sellers description:
I bought this car in California 5 years ago where it had been originally purchased by a Berkeley college professor who took possession of the vehicle at the Jaguar factory in Britain, toured through Europe in it and then had it shipped to his home where it remained in California its whole life. The car has no corrosion or rust anywhere in its body or under carriage. This is a rare and fun model being a 4 speed manual transmission, Willow green exterior with a Sage interior and wire wheels.

The previous owner performed extensive restoration to the car renewing and replacing many components. The car has been completely repainted and the interior has been restored with a new headliner, dashboard, mats, dynamat sound deadening material, door panels, carpeting, stereo system, etc. The interior is beautiful its only flaws being a few cracks in the front seats leather. The engine bay has been completely rewired, detailed and very original and period correct. An electric fan has been installed to the radiator with a thermostatic switch and override switch inside the cabin. All gauges and electrical are functioning. New shocks were installed and many brake and suspension components have been renewed. All of the exterior chrome is original, intact with no dents or defects but with a duller patina that is fitting for the age of the car. The car has both front and rear window chrome surrounds complete which is rare as all new windshield and rear window gaskets have been installed. All door weatherstripping is new. The engine is strong with great compression on all cylinders. There is only one spot on the lower front passenger door where there is a small crack in the paint finish.

During my ownership I have had the following performed:

-complete new exhaust system.
-rebuilt the variomatic power steering box and gear.
-fixed a leaking seal on the transmission.
-replaced the automatic choke sensor in the cylinder head.
-shift linkage and bushings replaced.
-replaced internal driver's door handle opening components.
-all new tires.
-wheel alignment.
The car still requires the following items and has the following defects:

-the trunk interior panels need to be installed. They are included. Trunk weatherstripping is new.
-the overdrive on the transmission is not functioning.
I have the sun visors but they are in need of restoration and installation.
I have the tool case but not any tools in it except for the knock off hammer. There is a spare wire wheel tire in the trunk with the jack.
the doors lock from the inside but the keys do not seem to work from the exterior.
the shift boot does not stay in place.
the wipers are incorrect they seem to be for a right hand drive model.
-the rear interior dome light is not installed but is included.
-the small chrome covers that hide the center seams of the chrome windshield and rear window surrounds are not installed but are included.
-the front main engine seal does weep oil when sitting.

The car has extensive and complete receipts for ownership and maintenance dating back to when the car was first purchased. The provenance is amazingly complete as all original documents from the factory, importation documents, shipping receipts and import duty receipts are all included in a large 3 ring binder book. The car also comes with all factory manuals, brochures and a Jaguar Heritage certificate. Twin fuel pumps have been installed in the trunk fenders. New electric horns have been installed as well. The clutch pull is strong and the brakes stop the car well and evenly.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
