Car to be at auction Nov. 2011
www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/19292/lot/379/
Auction description:
Sale 19292 - Yorkshire Event Centre, Collectors' Motor Cars, Motorcycles and Automobilia, 16 Nov 2011
Harrogate, Great Yorkshire Showground
Lot No: 379
1967 Jaguar S-Type 3.4-Litre Sports Saloon
Registration no. JRY 400E
Chassis no. P1B8300DN
Engine no. 7B95988
Estimate: £7,000 - 8,000, € 8,000 - 9,100
This 3.4-litre S-Type has the desirable four-speed manual/overdrive gearbox. 'JRY 400E' had been refinished in maroon when it was purchased in December 1999 by the current vendor, who discovered traces of the original Opalescent Golden Sand colour in the engine bay, in which livery it was re-sprayed by Massingberd Garage in 2000. Described by the private vendor as in generally very good mechanical condition, with good bodywork, paint and original Burgundy leather interior, the car is offered with MoT to April 2012 and Swansea V5 registration document. Wire wheels and an additional cooling fan are the only notified deviations from factory specification

Factory manual with overdrive
Long-term previous ownership
Mechanically sorted, “on the button” and ready to go
Accompanied by a sizeable history file
Sure, the Mk2 stole the limelight, but the S-Type was the better car.
The more technologically advanced of the pair, the S-Type gained independent rear suspension with inboard disc brakes. It was also more luxurious, offered alongside the Mk2 as a premium alternative.
This UK-supplied 1967 example comes from long-term ownership and is said to be very well-sorted mechanically. It’s the 3.4-litre manual version with overdrive, so offers brisk performance and the engaging drive Jaguars of old were well-renowned for.
Resplendent in Opalescent Golden Sand over red upholstery, it’s a very handsome car. As the photographs show, it’s in very nice condition; a great car to use and improve further over time.
