Ebay item 11/10/08 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-Mark-IX-Saloon-1960-Jaguar-Mark-IX_W0QQitemZ13026 ...
Current bid $1,136 reserve not met, 3 bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This beautiful British automobile has been host to many celebrities, including Frank Sinatra; not to mention its appearances in movies and daytime dramas.
With a production run of only three years, this exquisite classic is also among the most RARE cars to be offered anywhere, and boasts its reputation of being the most photographed car in Memphis.
NADA lists this vehicle in AVERAGE condition at $28.100 and in EXCELLENT condition $53.800
Car features: left hand drive steering, torsion bar independent front suspension and leaf sprung rear live axle, 3.8 litre double overhead cam inline 6 cylinder engine coupled to a Borg Warner DG250 automatic transmission, power steering, disc brakes, factory sunroof, Jensen am-fm stereo CD, rear seat passenger fold down picnic tables, + all the traditional Jaguar amenities you would find on a classic Jaguar from this era.
This car has remained in an enclosed climate controlled environment. We only rent our chauffeur driven automobiles to clients that appreciate the finer things. We never use our automobiles for proms or other teenager-related activities, thusly the automobile remains in very nice shape.
This automobile comes with its original California Black Plates
The big Marks were important cars for Jaguar, epitomizing Jaguar's motto of "Grace, Space and Pace."
With luxury appointments rivaling Rolls and Bentley, but with more spirited performance at a lower price, they presented a compelling package for contemporary executives and even diplomats. These fabulous cars were integral in the establishment of Jaguar as a premier producer of the high-performance luxury sedans for which they are still famous today.
If you are looking for a museum quality showcar…this is not it. This is a regularly used, HIGH DEMAND limousine… not perfect, but in very good shape, and ready to begin making money for you immediately upon arrival.
Upgrades to the car since our acquisition in 2003; include new paint, new carpet, wide white wall Coker tires, a manual choke was added to assist in cold weather startings, calipers, and master cylinder rebuilt by White Post Restorations (best in the business)
Front fog lights appear operational, but are for looks only. (not wired in) The main gas tank is in excellent operational condition, but original auxiliary tank is not installed. It comes with the auction, if you would like it. There is a trim piece that has just come up missing, but this can be easily fabricated, however, spare parts for this car, are readily accessible on the internet, or from Jaguar aftermarket store. RPM and speed gauges work intermittently. (normal for a 49 year old car) other gauges work all the time. Auxiliary temperature gauge was installed in 2006.
Please be advised that this vehicle is 49 years old, and thus, will have typical scratches and dings inherent for the year and mechanical parts are subject to fail.

This 1960 Jaguar Mk IX spent time in Texas before being relocated to Europe in the 2010s. It was later returned to the US in 2023 and acquired by the seller in 2024. Finished in white over white upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six mated to a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. It features a manually operated sunroof as well as power steering, Dunlop disc brakes, and 16″ steel wheels with hubcaps. Inside, the cabin is accented by walnut wood trim and outfitted with rear picnic tables. Work under current ownership is said to have involved rebuilding the dual SU carburetors as well as adding electric fuel pumps. This Mk IX is now offered with workshop manuals, spare parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
This car is one of 10,009 Mk IX examples produced over a three-year production run. It is finished in white and features a manually operated sunroof, fender-mounted side mirrors, rear fender skirts, and bumpers with overriders.
The 16″ steel wheels feature hubcaps and trim rings and are mounted with Coker whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by Dunlop discs at each corner.
The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in white upholstery with patterned central inserts. Walnut veneer accents the dash as well as the window surrounds and upper doors. Further interior appointments include a retrofitted JVC CD stereo as well as a heater and front and rear quarter-vent windows.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consists of a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. A Lucas ammeter is also equipped, and Auto Gage readouts for oil pressure and water temperature have been added below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, approximately 300 of which have been added under current ownership. The seller states that total mileage is unknown.
Picnic tables are equipped for the rear passengers.
The 3.8-liter inline-six was rated at 220 horsepower and 237 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller notes that recent work involved rebuilding the dual SU carburetors, adding electric fuel pumps, and performing fluid changes.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that the transmission shifts hard and reports that there is rust on the undercarriage.
