Sellers description:
1959 Jaguar MK 9 restored approx 12 years ago. It is two tone black and burgundy. New leather and all interior was installed via kit from Bartlett. Leather seats, wool carpets and headliner. They brake system was rebuilt as well as the exhaust etc. New door and glass seals. Paint and chrome was also redone. Heater core and most everything rebuilt/replaced as needed. Door locks and window regulators removed cleaned and lubricated and electric locks with alarm and remote installed. The wood in this car has been redone and is beautiful! It has a 1986 Corvette fuel injected v8 with automatic trans. The engine and trans. were removed from a 86 corvette i owned with 56K miles. Maybe overkill but it's what I had after wrecking the corvette. The engine now has about 58K on it. The car has a "Painless" engine wiring harness which was blended into the existing electrical system. There is a new schematic showing the changes for easy understanding. The Trans went bad from towing the car during early restoration and was completely rebuilt and has less than 2K miles on it. The car came stock with 4 wheel disc. brakes. It has a power booster to the front. The front brakes and rotors were upgraded to Series 3 1987 parts for improved stopping. Fuel tanks have been sealed and the L tank rt tank switching system and fuel return line upgraded to Series 3 jaguar. Again, all pats numbers for service are provided. The car came standard with two fuel tanks and change over switch in dash. All gauges work except the fuel gauge in not accurate. New sending units were installed but are generic and may need adjusting. The speed o and tach have been re calibrated and appear to be fairly accurate. I do not think the two clocks work. I have a list of all modifications and parts numbers etc. There is also a modification manual, showing the changes and a Jaguar and Corvette manual included. The steering box has been replaced with a Chevy truck box for better handling. The car has a working Rolls Royce (same as Jag, fits right in) A/C system located in the trunk and is feed from the Chevy a/c pump on the engine. It has been converted to R134 for easy maintenance and recharging. The car was stripped to bare metal and repainted with base coat/clear coat. The rear end is stock MK 9 (still used by Jeep? today) with new gears to match the engine. The car still needs some work to make it better. The sunroof leaks air and needs new seals. The paint while it looks good has some scratches here and there and some stress cracks. It needs to be driven and the remaining little things worked out to the new owners satisfaction. It has electric door locks and remote with alarm. New CD player with speakers in the kick panels. I think a smaller steering wheel would be nice as the car no longer needs the huge wheel for leverage. It's an impressive car for a night out on the town and has lots of "sleeper" power! The car does have some handling problems I haven't worked out yet. I think a smaller steering wheel and perhaps stronger shocks might help. I also planned to add a bigger sway bar. What I mean by handling problem is that after a turn the steering wheel does not return to center with enough force as I think it should. It might be that the caster needs adjusting, I just haven't taken the time to work this out, but lots of people have made these change to a MK 9 and the cars run and handle fine. I just don't have the time to finish it.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
