Lot #183520
This 1958 Jaguar Mk IX is said to have spent the last four decades stored in a barn before being acquired by the selling dealer as a non-running project in 2025. It is finished in black over Suede Green leather and has been fitted with a later 4.2L inline-six equipped with triple SU carburetors. Further details include a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission, a Smiths push-button AM/FM radio, and a sunroof. This non-running Mk IX project is now offered by the selling dealer in Texas at no reserve with a Tennessee title listing the car as a 1959 model.
This car is one of 10,009 Mk IX examples produced over a three-year production run. It is finished in worn black paint and features a sunroof, Lucas auxiliary lights, fender-mounted side mirrors, rear fender skirts, and bumpers with overriders. Areas of missing paint and rust through are noted around the body.
The 16″ steel wheels wear Jaguar-Branded hubcaps and are mounted with older 5.50-width Firestone whitewall tires. The Mk IX featured power steering and four-wheel disc brakes, though the seller notes that the latter do not work.
The left-hand-drive cabin houses front and rear bench seats upholstered in worn Suede Green leather. A Smiths push-button AM/FM radio and rear-area clock are retained. Much of the interior wood veneer is delaminated, the headliner is missing, and rust is noted throughout.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts centrally mounted instrumentation including a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, a 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level from Smiths as well as a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 3,100 miles, and the selling dealer states that total mileage is unknown.
The retrofitted 4.2L inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and mated to a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. The engine does not turn over.
Rust through is visible on the underbody.
