Car was at auction in '07

Auction description:
Kempton Park Racecourse
Lot : 20A
1966 JAGUAR MK II 3.8 LITRE
Estimate: £14000 - 16000
Mileage: T.B.A.
Colour: RED
Trim Colour: BLACK
Chassis No: 234886
Engine No: CE33939
Registration No: EIG 1828
M.O.T: MAY 2008

Finished in Carmen Red with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "excellent" condition with regard to its engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox, electrical equipment, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres (while, he rates the interior trim as "very good"). The subject of an extensive "nut and bolt" refurbishment shortly before being sold via ourselves on June 3rd 1998, 'EIG 1828' has been in the current ownership ever since. Said to be a "credit to the restorers" and to boast "one of the best paintjobs I have ever seen", the Jaguar is further understood to have given "excellent service" over the last 6,000 miles. Worthy of close inspection, this desirable MKII 3.8 Litre saloon is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until May 2008.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
