Ebay item 8/10/09 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-3-8-1966-Jaguar-MK2-3-8-MKII_W0QQitemZ16035484649 ...
Current bid $3,550 reserve not met, 3 bids 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar MK2 3.8 liter Manual with overdrive. An older restoration but still drives very well and looks beautiful. Hertitage certifcate indicates that the vehicle has the original motor and is finished in the original exterior color and interior. Current mileage is 77,544 and believed to be accurate as the previous owner (1980 until 2008) kept meticulous records.
The vehicle was restored in the UK in 1980 by Jaguar specialist Twin Cam Developments and the invoices indicate that the spring boxes and jacking points were replaced along with small localised repairs to the rear seat base. The vehicle is rust free and solid. Following the restoration the vehicle was shipped to Florida where it resided until 2008. Over the years the following repairs were made by the previous owner and all receipts are present:
Motor Rebuilt (Gulf Performance 1999)
carbs rebuilt (sent to Burlen in the UK for a total overhaul - perfect!)
Calipers Rebuilt (XKs Unlimited)
Front Cross member
Radiator Hoses
Stainless Steel Exhaust System
Door Seals
Carpets
When I purchased the car she had not run for a number of years and over the past 12 months I have replaced the following:
Fuel Pump
Rebuilt Fuel Tank
New Tires
Wire Wheels (chrome)
Front Springs
Upper and Lower Ball Joints
Shocks
Front and Rear Bushings
Gearbox Mounts
Brake Hoses
Battery
She now drives very well with no rattles or squeaks associated with old cars. The motor pull hard with strong oil pressure. She keeps her cool even in summer Los Angeles traffic. The 1966 MK2s were the first to use the all-synchro gearbox and this one shifts well and the overdrive kicks in with no hesitation. The starter carb still functions but is now manually operated via a switch under the dash. I find this to be much more reliable. The under dash panel will need to be refitted but it is present.
The interior has a wonderful patina with excellent wood, headliner and leather. All of the gauges work but the clock has broken as has the original radio. The carpets are new. Front seatbelts are fitted and the anchor points for the rear are present.
The chrome on the wheels is perfect but they are Series 1 XKE wheels with the curly hub rather than the flat hub variety fitted originally. The tires have less than 100 miles on them.
The paint is still shiney and very presentable but is flawed in small areas due its age. The rear diff drops a quarter size drip every couple of weeks. Included with the car is a brand new heavy duty outdoor car cover. The motor is oil tight - really! Understand that she is an old Jaguar but all of the expensive and time consuming taskes have been done already. She now needs to be regularly driven and enjoyed.
I am sellling her as my '61 XKE OTS is nearing the end of a long term restoration.
