www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

Auction description:
Lot 339
Registration Number: TSL 438
Chassis Number: 202829DN

The example on offer here is an early 3.8 litre MkII in the most desirable manual gearbox with overdrive specification. The original engine is fitted and is described by the vendor as being in good condition. A testament to this cars originality is the presence of the often lost or pillaged tool kit in the luggage compartment. The car has undergone a variety of work to maintain and improve its condition and is supplied with the receipts for many new parts that have recently been fitted and a JDHT heritage certificate. Presented in black with a red interior, this Jaguar is used on a regular basis and according to the vendor has been extremely reliable.

With a MoT certificate valid until February 28th 2011, on offer is an opportunity to acquire a good usable classic Jaguar in a desirable specification.

Estimate: £7000 - £9000

Chassis Number 202829DN
Engine Number LA8143-8
Odometer reading 1,938 miles

This early, matching numbers, Mk. II is fitted with the desirable 3.8 litre engine, manual gearbox with overdrive. It is believed to have been restored in the late 1990's, early 2000's when the car was repainted and other mechanical work was carried out. Within the last five years, the interior has been replaced and the woodwork restored and re-polished. This year the vendor has had electric power steering fitted making the car very easy and comfortable to drive. Finished in the classic colour scheme of black with a dark red interior, it is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires at the end of February 2016, a file containing old MoT's, invoices, a JDHT heritage certificate and magazine articles. Also supplied with the car is the original, complete tool kit presented in the original box. With the power steering fitted, this desirable 3.8 litre Mk. II, with its overdrive gearbox and classic wire wheels, is a very usable classic and equally suited to being an every day car as well as being the perfect machine for events and rallies.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
