Sold new by Henlys, London, this apparently very original Jaguar was exported to Jersey in January 1961. The second owner repatriated the car in the 1980s, following which it had a minor accident and was purchased by a friend who then gave to his son. It is he who is now offering the MKII for sale. Having been stored since the accident it is in need of attention throughout, but is surely the basis for a potentially rewarding restoration.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
