My father ordered it new in late 1964. He specified a Websto sunroof and chromed wire wheels. He sold it in 1971 and I found and bought it in 1984. I restored it and gave it to him for his birthday in 1984, explaining that the special birthday present would be a bit late. He finally got it on Feb. 21, 1985, exactly 20 years after he first took delivery of it !!
The original bill shows that the wire wheels were about 10% of the total cost of the car, which might explain why so very few had them to start with (today all compact saloons seem to have them...). The engine is currently being rebuilt.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
