Ebay item 7/8/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-Daimler-V8-250-1965-Daimler-V8-250-Jaguar-MkII-St ...
Opening bid $3,500 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1965 Daimler V8 250. It was manufactured by Jaguar who acquired Daimler in 1960. This model is essentially a Mk II Jaguar Chassis that has the proprietary Daimler 2.5 liter V8 engine factory installed and has a higher level of interior finish trim. There are also special Daimler specific exterior trim bits that are fitted. This car appears to be very complete with all of the Daimler Specific parts present. It runs and drives and the brakes work, however the car has been off the road for many years and would require a thorough going-over to ensure safety. The paint is a Dark blue/green metallic and is not original. It may have been BRG originally. It will need to be repainted which will inevitably mean that bodywork will be required. There are some obvious problem spots on the front fenders near the marker lights on top and the bottom seam of the trunk lid is a little crispy. There has been some frame repair on the drivers side and it looks like a little more welding is in order. There is evidence of a light hit on the right rear panel. The door gap is tight on the rear right door and the spat does not fit correctly on the same side. The trim seems to all be present. The rear bumper is tied up at the moment because the rubber mounts on the right side have given up the ghost! The rear window lock strips are on the back seat. The left fender mirror base is broken but the parts are present. Overall the chrome parts are solid though I am sure some could use refinishing. The car is right hand drive. It starts reliably and runs well. It appears to have pretty low oil pressure when warm though this apparently has been the case for quite a long time. The transmission shifts ok though the selector linkage needs to be adjusted. It has a small leak and needed to have some fluid added. Evidently it was recently (mileage wise) rebuilt according to records that come with the car. There are also records of extensive brake work carried out as well within the last 5-6K miles (10 years ago!) They do work, but, could probably do with some freshening. I cannot comment on the suspension though there are some receipts for a rear leaf spring as well as a coil spring. The interior is tidy and presentable with no tears in the upholstery (exception: drivers door panel has a tear on the bottom) and neat carpets. The wood has been refinished and has an oiled finish at present. The instruments appear to be in good shape. All of the glass is present and intact. Also included in this auction is a 4 volume set of original manuals as well as what receipts there are from the late '70's onward. Overall, this is a very elegant car with the finest Jaguar styling of the era coupled with an interesting and unusual engine.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
