Seen on eBay, April 2007:

"This car may slowly roll from the service department to the parts department if no one intervenes. Mostly original, (it was repainted many years ago with pearlescent white over the original autumn tan gold metallic as seen on the right front door end and trunk picture.) The white paint job looks good in pictures but pretty dull and awful in person. -------------------------- Obviously garaged but not driven in decades, I'd call this a rolling restoration project as it starts and "drives" but has no brakes. (If I put brake fluid in the resevoir I get pedal pressure but the fluid finds it's way to the combustion chambers through the servo unit and the car becomes a west nile virus preventer when running, ie; smoke pours out of the exhaust. With no brake fluid, no smoke.) The clear Ohio title reads not actual miles. I don't know if the odo works. The engine revs very nicely but has rattles and some pinging that I've yet to diagnose. It has good oil pressure but may need serious attention as I don't think it had been started for many years. The oil is clean and the coolant level looks good. I've unhooked the fuel line from the gas tank and run the engine off a small gas can placed in the trunk. The gas tank needs an interior flush as it smells of old gas. The cracked original steering wheel needs replacing, the tires are old and dry rotted but they hold air. I've driven the car about 1/50th of a mile, (around 100 feet) at speeds of up to 3 miles an hour, both forward and reverse. It has all 4 speeds forward, I never tried overdrive. It needs a lot of attention before it could become a driver and it needs a whale lot more work to become a presentable car. With even more time and money it could be restored and may well be worth it. Originally shipped to Paris France, the car still has a solid underframe and body, the doors, trunk and hood open and close very solidly. I've photographed the worst rust spots. There's a narrow two inch rust crack below the pedals on the floor board. If anyone knows any specific areas underneath where chronic rust may appear on these old Jags, please email/call me and I'll inspect/photograph those places. ---------------------------------------------------------------- We bought this car at auction after it had been donated to a local charity. All the exterior lights, bumpers, grille, heater blower, etc were piled in the trunk and interior, along with the disassembled interior. Someone did not complete a restoration, or even come close. I inspected all the bits and LOOSELY re-attached exterior items to the car. It has the wrong pouncing Jag on the hood, one hubcap and headlight teardrop is missing but otherwise everything appears orginal and seems to be here. The grille roundel says 3.8 litre but the original owner's manual and maintenance chart are for a 3.4 litre. The owner's manual has the engine number KJ 11408 inked in along with the correct serial number. I haven't checked the block number and the car isn't here, if there's a descrepency I'll update the listing with that information. I believe it's a 3.4. Some items have great chrome, some are so so and some have pitting and surface rust. The back reflector on one of the yellow driving lamps has a rust hole. There's a small stone chip in the windshield, a repaired crack in the center bar on the grill as photographed and a repaired bodywork area near the right headlight, I tried to take a picture but it hasn't shown up too well. It looks like thin body filler hasn't stuck and some small wrinkles in the metal appear, along with the small dent in the right front corner. ------------------------ I loosely bolted the seats back in. They've been redone nicely, along with door panels and console, BUT, it's vinyl, not leather. The original carpeting, headliner and door wind lacing come with the car but they need replacing. The original sunvisors are in great shape. All the original wood trim is there, most in excellent condition, a couple of pieces could use touch up or revarnishing. The dashboard is in decent shape, the below switch nameplate tag has the left edge broken off. The trunk mat is in very good condition and the trunk floor is very solid, there is some surface rust in the spare tire well. The oil pressure gauge, water temp, and tach work. There's a Haynes shop manual included along with this car's original Factory Owner's Manual and maintenance chart --------------------------------------------- I could go on and on, questions from knowledgeable interested parties are welcome and I'll post the answers to curtail this rambling description."

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
