This 1963 Jaguar Mk II is said to have remained in California from new until it was purchased in 2001 by the current owner. Subsequent refurbishment work conducted in Northern California focused on rebuilding the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and refreshing the interior. The body was addressed beginning in 2007 during further refurbishment work in Illinois that was completed in 2011. Powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked with a Medatronics five-speed manual transmission, the car is finished in green over green leather. The vehicle has been modified with power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, Wilwood disc brakes, a PerTronix distributor, an aluminum radiator, auxiliary electric cooling fans, LED secondary lighting, a Sony head unit, and Blaupunkt speakers. Other equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 15″ wire wheels, driving lights, air conditioning, wool carpeting, three-point seatbelts, rear-seat tray tables, and dual SU carburetors. The car achieved a score of 998.2 points at a Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d’Elegance event in 2012. This Mk II is now offered by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, on consignment with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, refurbishment photos, JCNA scoring sheets, manufacturer’s literature, parts catalogs, related books, a factory tool kit, and an Illinois title under the owner’s trust.
Finished from the factory in black, the car received body repairs following a collision with an object and was repainted in a custom hue the seller calls Brooklands Green in 2017 by Posemato’s Bodyworks & Restorations of Gurnee, Illinois. Some chrome trim was replaced during the work. Illumination functions feature driving lights, halogen headlights, LED turn-signal and brake-light bulbs, plus a third brake light in the rear window. The Jaguar also has a Leaper hood ornament, a pop-up cowl vent, an A-pillar–mounted driver-side mirror, a manually retractable antenna, rear wheel spats, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome wraparound bumpers with overriders as well as a chrome grille, window surrounds, and trim.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels with stainless-steel spokes are mounted with 185VR15 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were replaced in 2021. The wheels can accommodate tubeless tires, per the current owner. The car has been converted to utilize power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs, which have been updated with Wilwood components, an adjustable proportioning valve, and stainless-steel lines. The rear upper shock bushings and washers were replaced in 2024.
The cockpit features front bucket seats and a rear bench that were retrimmed in green leather under current ownership using materials supplied by BAS Jaguar Trim. The vinyl door coverings and wool carpeting also were replaced, as were the fabric headliner and the metal-framed sun visors. The woodwork on the dashboard, door caps, and window frames was stripped and refinished by a furniture-restoration shop, according to the seller. Three-point seatbelts are offered for all five seating positions. The seller notes that the cabin retains incandescent lighting and the glovebox retains blue interior lighting. A Bluetooth-compatible Sony AM/FM/CD stereo located in the center stack is wired to four Blaupunkt speakers. The car has air conditioning with circular output vents, and the windows are tinted.
The two-spoke steering wheel has a horn ring and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges displaying oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles, which is said to reflect the distance accumulated since completion of the refurbishment; true mileage is unknown. The steering wheel and the gauges have been refurbished, which included replacement of the tachometer generator in 2025 and repair of the water temperature gauge in 2026, and LED instrument-panel lights were installed along with an emergency-flasher system.
Rear passengers are provided with tray tables, a fold-down center armrest, and reading lights.
The 3.8-liter XK inline-six was factory rated at 220 horsepower and 237 lb-ft of torque, and it is fueled by dual SU carburetors that are augmented by a dual-snorkel Coopers Cleaner air-filter setup. The engine was rebuilt during the refurbishment and is complemented by the following equipment:
Replacement wiring system with fuse tray
Trunk-mounted battery
PerTronix distributor
High-capacity alternator
Replacement water pump with high-capacity impeller
Flexible-blade engine-driven cooling fan
Two auxiliary electric cooling fans
Ron Davis Racing Products aluminum radiator
Coated exhaust manifolds
Driver-operated “bilge blower” exhaust fan near headers
Insulated exhaust downpipes
The selling dealer notes that the two auxiliary electric fans can be manually engaged. The carburetors recently were rebuilt, and the cork gaskets were updated with modern materials. A coolant leak was repaired and ignition components were replaced in August 2025.
A Medatronics JT5 synchromesh five-speed manual transmission has been adapted and works with a replacement clutch, driveshaft, and limited-slip rear end.
The car achieved a score of 998.2 points out of a possible 1,000 at a Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d’Elegance event in July 2012, earning it Best Jaguar in Class honors.
The selling dealer highlights that the car retains its full factory tool kit, which is included in the sale along with tire-changing tools, a portfolio of manufacturer’s literature, workshop manuals for the Mk II and the 3.8-liter engine, parts catalogs, a Mk II restoration guide, and other related books.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists serial numbers, factory colors, distribution through New York, and a manufacture date of March 22, 1963.
The car’s chassis number is P222519DN, whereas the Illinois title prepends that sequence with “J64”. The Illinois title also lists the vehicle’s model year as 1964 and notes the Type of Title as “Corrected”.
