This 1962 Jaguar Mk II was refurbished in the early 1990s by Jason Len, the founder of XKs Unlimited of San Luis Obispo, California. Its 3.8-liter inline-six is linked to a T5 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. An XJS power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering setup has been adapted, as have Wilwood front disc brakes, Koni shocks, a negative-ground electrical system, Mallory electronic ignition, dual SU HD-8 carburetors, and a LeCarra steering wheel. The saloon is finished in British Racing Green over tan leather and was purchased by the current owner in 1998. The engine was rebuilt in 2008, the front end was repaired and repainted in 2025, and in spring 2026 the fuel pump was replaced, the carburetors were rebuilt, and chrome 15″ wire wheels and a RetroSound stereo were installed. This modified Mk II is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner with a 1994 issue of British Car magazine, service records from current ownership, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
Jason Len—who founded XKs Unlimited in 1973 and, in more recent years, XKs Motorsport—refurbished this Jaguar for himself in the early 1990s. The vehicle was featured on the cover of the February 1994 issue of British Car magazine, a copy of which is included in the sale.
The Jaguar was repainted in British Racing Green during the aforementioned refurbishment. In May 2025, paintwork and repairs were done to the right-front fender, the headlight, and the grille following a collision. Equipment includes a Leaper hood ornament, headlamp stone guards, driving lights, a driver-side mirror, a pop-up cowl vent, Coombs-style rear fender skirts, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome wraparound bumpers with overriders as well as a chrome grille, window surrounds, and trim. Two scratches are noted on the passenger-side rear door.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels and Michelin XVS tires measuring 185HR15 were installed in April 2026. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension and a cantilevered live rear axle. The vehicle has been converted to utilize XJS-sourced power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering as well as Koni shocks and heavy-duty sway-bar mounts. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs, which have been updated with Wilwood components at the front.
The front bucket seats and rear bench have been retrimmed in tan leather upholstery. Burl walnut veneers adorn the dashboard, door caps, and window frames. Equipment includes three-point front seatbelts, rear lap belts, a heater, front and rear vent windows, interior lighting, and brown carpeting. A Bluetooth-compatible RetroSound stereo was installed in May 2026, and a rear-window latch was repaired.
The leather-wrapped LeCarra steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges displaying water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 14,500 miles, about 3,600 of which were added under current ownership. The clock does not work.
During the 1990s refurbishment, the 3.8-liter XK inline-six was fitted with dual SU HD-8 carburetors, Mallory electronic ignition, a heavy-duty radiator, a high-volume flex fan, and a negative-ground electrical system. The long block was rebuilt in 2008 following a gasket leak that caused water damage. The timing was adjusted in 2021. In 2023, a fuel line was replaced and damage was repaired following an engine fire that the seller states was caused by starter fluid. The fuel pump was replaced and the carburetors rebuilt in April 2026.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner T5 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission oil was changed in May 2026.
