This 1964 Jaguar Mk II was acquired by the seller for his wife in 2012 and dubbed “Morse” based on the British detective drama television series Inspector Morse, in which the titular character drives a Jaguar Mk II. Following the seller’s acquisition, a 350ci V8 and a three-speed automatic transmission were fitted. The car is finished in Cornish Gray over red and equipped with 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, fog lights, a pop-up cowl vent, rear wheel spats, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and an AM/FM radio. This Mk II, “Morse,” is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Cornish Gray and features a Leaper hood ornament, fog lights, a pop-up cowl vent, rear wheel spats, chrome window surrounds, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome wraparound bumpers with overriders. The seller’s opinion is that the hood, roof, and trunk lid need to be repainted.

The 15″ chrome knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 185-section Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension and a cantilevered live rear axle. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The wheels, tires, brakes, shocks, and suspension components were replaced under current ownership.

The seats are trimmed in red vinyl upholstery, and burl walnut veneers adorn the dashboard, door caps, and window frames. Appointments include an AM/FM radio, a Lokar floor shifter, and front and rear vent windows along with power-operated windows, door locks, and mirrors. The seller states that the wood interior trim was refinished during the refurbishment. The heater valve and defrost levers are not installed but are included in the sale, and the windshield wipers, turn signals, and horn require connection.

The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a 6,500-rpm tachometer, a VDO clock, a VDO voltmeter, and Smiths auxiliary gauges displaying water temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The 350ci GM V8 was installed in 2014 and is equipped with a single carburetor, an aluminum radiator, and Edelbrock valve covers. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that the engine and transmission were refurbished during the work.

The seller’s collection of Jaguar brochures and handbooks is included in the sale.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
