This Jaguar420 belonged to David and Edith Beecher Stowe and was part of the Stowe family from 1967 to 1988 when it was towed away by a collector in New Jersey. The original color was a cream or maybe a color called valentine beige, although that may not be the name of the color at all. I am glad to see that the car has been updated to a 4 speed automatic, although there was nothing wrong with the original Borg Warner 3 speed. A 4 speed would give it better highway legs.

I would be happy to take it off the owners hands for a reasonable price.

This 1967 Jaguar 420 was the subject of a 2005 refurbishment that included a repaint in dark green and a retrim of the tan leather interior. Powered by a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six linked to a three-speed automatic transmission, the car features 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power steering, disc brakes, a push-button AM/FM radio, and R134A air conditioning. Acquired by the seller in 2022, this 420 is now offered at no reserve with a Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car was reportedly refinished in dark green during the aforementioned 2005 refurbishment, and exterior details include a fender-mounted antenna, vent windows, and a chrome grille, door handles, window surrounds, and wraparound bumpers with overriders.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classics tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by power-assisted discs, with inboard rotors at the rear axle.

The cabin is stated to have been retrimmed in tan leather in 2005, at which point the walnut veneer trim was replaced. It features a Smiths analog clock, lap belts, a push-button AM/FM radio, and air conditioning that was converted to R134A refrigerant in 2022, per the seller.

The two-spoke steering wheel features a bright semi-circular horn ring. Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature set alongside a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 71k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter XK DOHC inline-six was factory-equipped with two SU carburetors and rated at 245 horsepower and 282 lb-ft of torque.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a column-shifted Borg-Warner Model 8 three-speed automatic transmission.

The Florida title lists a VIN of “PIF27039BW”, which transposes the second character of the car number, “1”, as an “I”. It also notes “Exempt” under the Odometer Status heading.
