Auction description:
1958 Jaguar Mark VIII Saloon
Good example of Jaguar’s classic Fifties luxury car
From a private NSW Jaguar collection
Offered with No Reserve
Chassis no. 764510BW
Engine no. NA3141-8
The final car to join the late owner’s extensive Jaguar collection, the Mark VIII known as “Miss Daisy” was purchased a couple of years ago with just over 30,000 miles showing on the clock. Equipped with automatic transmission, the previous owner noted the car had benefited from an overhaul of the braking system, a fresh battery and new tyres at the time of purchase and more recent receipts on file indicate the carburettors were overhauled with new needles and seats.
Finished in the late owner’s preferred colour combination of Old English White with red leather upholstery, the Mark VIII presents well, the duco generally in good condition apart from some runs in the paint around the headlights. There is a small tear in the driver’s seat leather and the stitching is coming apart on the rear bench seat but both could easily be repaired. There is a modern CD player hidden in the glovebox, while the carpets and headliner are all in good condition. Apart from some wear on the door cappings, the timber veneers are in fine condition and the sliding sunroof works well. The car started easily and once warmed up, a short test drive indicated no major issues apart from some difficulty selecting gears.
A good driver-level example of Jaguar’s classic Fifties luxury car, the Mark VIII will be sold unregistered and with No Reserve. Please note the car is located in Berridale, NSW and must be collected on site by arrangement with Donington Auctions.
