    Auction description:

    Oxford
    Lot No: 244
    1956 Jaguar MkVIII Saloon
    Registration no. NJB 410
    Chassis no. B/W 760049
    Engine no. N6057-8
Sold for £9,200 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Only 158 survivors are known to the International MkVIII Register
A automatic transmission model, 'NJB 410' was sold new via Henlys, Newbury to a Mr J Henry, managing director of a local company, and came equipped with the optional sliding sunroof and rear over-rug, which it retains. In 1960 the car passed to a Mr J Reddihough, who kept it until 1982, and during his ownership featured in the TV film 'Charlie Muffin' (1979) starring David Hemmings. 'NJB 410' enjoyed a further four owners before being acquired by the current vendor in June 2003. Originally finished in black over red, the car was partially re-sprayed approximately 25 years ago while the red leather-upholstered interior benefits from new carpets. Its condition is described by the vendor as generally very good, although improvable in certain areas such as the interior woodwork (mainly dashboard) and electrical system (left-side fuel pump feed faulty). This rare post-war Jaguar is offered with sundry invoices, two old tax discs, Heritage Certificate, current road fund licence and Swansea V5.

Car to be at auction 6/13
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 148 - 1956 Jaguar Mk VIII
    Estimate: £0 - £0
    Registration Number: NJB 410
    Chassis Number: B/W760049

This delightful 1956 edition is reported to be in good overall condition. The property of a lady, it is now surplus to requirements and is offered with UK V5 registration papers.

Finished in a suitably elegant and traditional livery of black over red, with complementary red interior , NJB 410 would provide the perfect motor car for any continental tour or rally. Offered with a realistic reserve.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
