Sellers description:
Here is an elegant Mark V just waiting for the right person to restore it to its' former glory. With traditional early Jaguar saloon styling it offers a refined stately presence from the past. The car of course needs restoration and I have tried to take photos showing condition both inside and out. The engine is, I believe, a later Mark VII DOHC 6 cylinder as the original 3.5 litre pushrod engines were prone to blowing up and replaced typically at the time by the far more advanced DOHC. I have not attempted to start the car and do not know the engine condition. It has been in inside storage for years untouched. I will let the new owner awaken it properly. The radiator appears original to the car. The car steers and rolls fine, but brakes are inoperative. There is no brake fluid remaining in the original glass reservoir.
All windows are in place and all door windows roll up and down with the exception of the rear driver's side passenger door. I have not investigated as to why. All door handles, window cranks and lock buttons are in place and the inside door panels look good. The original walnut door cappings and trims are there but need refinishing. The dash is complete as well, with both glovebox doors present as well, again all needing refinishing. All gauges are in place as shown in one of the photos. Front seats are the original frames, but have been somewhere along the line reupholstered in vinyl - but still with the original walnut capping on top. The rear seat is original in blue leather, and while the seatback is essentially complete, the bench portion is split with missing leather where it has cracked apart. There is no fabric remaing on the roof, but all framework is there as is the sunroof and the walnut trim surrounds.
The trunk (boot) of the car would require a new outer skin or repair to the bottom edge. The inside is complete. The hinged area of the inner bootlid is there as shown in the photo, but the tool tray insert is gone. The underside of the car has rust and would require repair. All chrome is with the car that I can see, but would require polishing or replating depending on your intent. The horn button is missing.
