Car returns to auction 8/26
angliacarauctions.co.uk/auctions/2774-22-Aug-2026/15301~1-1968-jaguar-240
Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd August
1968 JAGUAR 240
Estimate: £8,000 - £10,000
Chassis number: 1J3919DN
Engine size: 2483cc
2483cc, manual. The vendor bought this lovely Jaguar 240 in one of our sales last year and sent it to specialist David Marks Ltd for refurbishments which totalled around £3k. Work has included replacing the full ignition system, fuel pump, rebuilding the steering column, plus various suspension works and electrical upgrades. During his ownership the car has covered around 1000 miles, and is now being sold to make way for an E-type. Its last MoT was passed with no advisories but expired in January this year. In the vendor's own words: “As soon as there is a little heat in the engine it will idle on its own and does not overheat. It pulls well through all gears and overdrive functions as intended.”
The car received a bare-metal restoration in the 1990s, including a full mechanical overhaul and a respray in Carmen Red. The history file contains an enormous stack of receipts (mostly dating from the 1990s and 2000s, with a few going back to the 1980s) together with photos of the restoration in progress. These are accompanied by original handbooks, spare keys, old tax discs, and original green continuation logbooks. The odometer is showing 88,457 miles and the V5C indicates only 2 former keepers.
The vendor notes that the spare wheel is not fitted with a tyre.
