This Kougar Sports is a right-hand-drive roadster that is believed to have been assembled at the factory in 1985, and it was registered in England before the seller’s acquisition in 2015. It was subsequently imported to the US and later spent time in Australia and New Zealand. Power is provided by a Jaguar 3.8-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car rides on 15″ Compomotive wheels and an independent suspension with dual rear dampers. The exterior features fiberglass bodywork finished in dark blue in addition to a louvered bonnet, exposed side exhaust pipes, and fenders, while the cockpit contains a Moto-Lita steering wheel, ignition and inertia switches, and a split bench seat trimmed in blue and red leather. Service since 2020 included installing an aluminum radiator and dual-piston brake calipers, rebuilding the SU carburetors, and replacing the valvetrain components. This Kougar Sports is offered in Florida with side windows, a car cover, copies of service records and documentation, and a Texas title that lists the vehicle as a 1965 Kougar.

Inspired by British open-cockpit sports cars, the Kougar Sports was designed in 1976 by Rick Stevens. A prototype was built using an alloy body mounted to a tubular chassis with mechanical underpinnings sourced from a 1960s-era Jaguar S-Type, while production versions utilized fiberglass bodywork. Kougar Cars offered the Sports in both fully assembled and kit car form, and the company changed hands in 1990.

This fiberglass-bodied example is finished in dark blue and features a single-piece windshield with a right-side mirror as well as fenders, exposed side exhaust pipes, a competition-style fuel filler cap, and twin exhaust outlets. The louvered bonnet is secured by leather retention straps, and a third brake light has been fitted. Scratches and areas of faded paint are noted.

The 15″ Compomotive wheels have body-color basketweave-style spokes, and they were mounted with 215/70 Michelin Defender T+H tires in 2018 at approximately 87k miles according to the seller. The coil-spring independent suspension utilizes dual dampers out back, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs with dual-piston calipers and inboard-mounted rear rotors. The seller states the front ball joints and various suspension bushings were replaced in 2017, two-piston brake calipers and replacement front rotors were installed in 2022, and braided brake lines were added in 2025.

The split bench seat has three-point seat belts and is trimmed in blue leather with faded red accents. Color-coordinated carpets line the footwells and transmission tunnel, which contains a shifter topped with a two-tone wood knob. A fire extinguisher, a fuel pump inertia switch, and an ignition switch are secured to the side chassis bars. Scuffs are noted on the leather.

The wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel fronts a speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and gauges monitoring coolant temperature, fuel level, voltage, and oil pressure. The seller reports the imperial speedometer was overhauled and a metric overlay was added in 2022. The engine-turned dashboard fascia houses a voltage readout and power outlets. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles, approximately 9k of which were added under current ownership.

The Jaguar 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six is fed by twin SU carburetors and features an alloy head with hemispherical combustion chambers. A 123ignition distributor was added in 2019, and service the following year is said to have included rebuilding the carburetors, overhauling the head with replacement valvetrain components and camshaft bearings, and installing an aluminum radiator and an alloy water pump. 3D-printed intake manifolds were installed in 2025. An electrical cut-off has also been added along with relays for the headlights and cooling fan, and the seller recommends servicing the wiring. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an overdrive unit, the latter of which should be adjusted according to the seller. Corrosion on the frame and fluid leaks are noted, and scuffs are visible on the underside of the nose cone.

Side windows and a tool kit will accompany the car along with a car cover, a floor jack and jack stands, headrests, manufacturer’s literature, and electronic copies of historical ownership documents and service records.

The Kougar plate lists a chassis number of “O1141285S” and a “1B54507DN” Jaguar car number, which corresponds to a right-hand-drive S-Type 3.8 assembled circa 1965 with an overdrive-equipped four-speed manual gearbox. The car is titled as a 1965 Kougar using the Australia-issued VIN “6ZZ00000011412850” shown above, and the Texas title notes the vehicle is exempt from odometer reporting.
