Sellers description:
1959 Jaguar Mark 1 Saloon with a later model 4.2 engine for a bit more added power.
Our example has been lovingly restored, with several tens of thousands of dollars spent overall. The drivetrain has been updated with a more modern and powerful 4.2L engine and correct automatic transmission. The chassis has been updated with modern rack and pinion steering, disk brakes, and the front subframe and associated suspension components have been rebuilt also. The combination of these tasteful Jaguar correct upgrades make it a very nice car to drive and makes the car feel more modern.
The new metallic gray paint is liquid, and brings out the curves of the car beautifully. While the car is gorgeous outside, there are a few paint flaws here and there that do not all show up in the photos. If the prospective buyer wishes we can address those areas at our paint and body shop and wrap the small cost up into the final sales price.
Inside the interior has been fully replaced with new glove soft leather on all seating surfaces and door panels. Overhead the headliner is also fresh, and nicely fitted. The wood was refinished and while not perfect, the veneers are all in great shape and show handsomely. There are still a few minor items to be attended to, one of the brake calipers is leaking and needs to be rebuilt, and a rear axle bearing is starting to make some noise.
Overall we would consider this to be a nice driver level restored Jaguar and more on par with a later model Mark II.
