Sellers description:
1957 Jaguar Mark 1 2.4
This car is a rare find because it was from the year of the fire at the Jaguar factory. Because of this they used many of the parts from the more popular mark 2. The Mark 1 was always considered over engineered and extremely safe!
This car originally came from Uruguay, we have a heritage certificate for the car stating the dealer from which it was sold. The interior has been redone, as well as all of the carpet. The wire wheels have been replaced (chrome), and fitted with new tires.
The car has 70Km on the Odo. Also it was fitted with a 3.8 block at some point in its life. Why we are not sure, but it still has all of the original 2.4 head and carb set up. So it takes a very trained eye to catch it
It is a 4 speed car with over drive. The transmission has a very quite noise coming from it that has been there since the day that I bought it and only is noticeable by a very trained ear. I asked my mechanic about it and he told me it was nothing to be worried about and they all make some noise!
It also has the correct radiomobile radio that has been fully restored and is installed in the dash but not hooked up. New upholstery, good paint, nice chrome. Lastly there is one small spot where the paint is not perfect.

This MK1 is a bit of a puzzler for me (S940061). My parts manual calls out the Mazak cast one-piece, 8-bar grille # BD.9490 for MK1's numbered 940001 to 942464, and the cars shown here depict that. This vehicle has been fitted with what is pretty clearly the grille of a MK2, which wasn't even designed until 1959, so the use of MK2 parts here, instead of MK1 parts, after the 1957 fire seems unlikely. I owned the '57 #S942330, which also came soon after the fire, and it did, indeed, show some after-the-fire desperation, parts-wise, but with parts from concurrent RHD's or even other model Jags, not parts from the future. This looks like a 3.4 front end that has had the grille replaced with one from a MK2. Perhaps the original 2.4 front end was entirely replaced?

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
