Ebay item 10/30/12
i.e.no head liner and the seats ripped with no carpets or side panels. The engine was inoperative and attached to a Borg-Warner gear box and a leaking steering box.
As of October 2012, this car has a completely rebuilt engine with polished alum valve covers and a rebuilt R700 General Motors gear box all with less than 1000 miles. This work was completed by a superior Jag shop in San Marco, Ca. We also repaired, replaced or installed the following:
- Electronic ignition - no points in the distributor
- Brand new 4 core alum radiator with elect fan
- New gasoline tank
- Completely rewired with single harness Painless wiring system
- 4 new tires w/ tubes + 2 extra wire rims
- New classic radio (electronic)
- New carpets, panel s and head liner
- Reupholstered seats with vinyl not leather
- Rack and pinion steering - no leaky steering box and much tighter steering
- Rebuilt speedo and water temp gauge
- All 29 pieces of wood have been had veneer replaced by a notable craftsman in California.
- New stainless steel exhaust system
The body was originally white with black interior - we stripped the exterior paint to bare metal and applied a sealer coat followed by primer coat and then base coat covered by clear coat. The exterior body could use a professional paint job as we missed some areas with the bondo etc.
Otherwise in the spirit of full disclosure there are several small projects remaining such as installing interior lights, signal switch, glove box lights.
The car runs very well - much like any car with new engine, gear box etc.
Reason for sale - car is not driven much - collecting dust in garage.
Local inspections are welcome by appointment. This car is located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
