Sellers description:
1964 Jaguar MK 2 Saloon. It is the desirable 4 speed with electric overdrive model. These cars are a great mix of luxury but with a tremendous sporting history.
This car has lived in the Seattle area its whole life. The previous owner had it from 1977 until very recently. At some point it stopped being driven and had been stored indoors for a very long time. It has been brought back to life in the last year.
The body and chassis are in excellent condition with no rust problems or major accident damage or repair. Underneath the car looks very solid and straight. There are some very minor dings and scrapes. The paint is decent but with quite a few touch ups especially on the lower door and rocker area. The chrome is all excellent and the glass is all very good with one small chip in the windshield on the passengers side.
The Interior is quite presentable but could use some improvement. The black leather seats are nice, the front seats bottoms appear to have been re-covered. The wood dash and door tops are fair but showing their age, they do have a nice aged patina. The black carpets are quite rough and should be replaced. The headliner is fair with some staining and a few holes mostly near the back window. some of the cosmetic mohair trim around the doors is quite rough and falling apart. the left rear door does not open from outside (problem with outer door handle linkage) it does open from inside.
The engine starts easy and runs excellent. It has great power with no smoking or major leaks. There is a very slight timing chain rattle when cold at tick over (idle) that goes away as it warms up. The clutch works great although the clutch hydraulics leak down if the car isn't driven for weeks at a time. The brakes work excellent. the 4 speed gearbox shifts nice and the electric overdrive works perfect. Most of the electrics are working. The Instruments all work, lights turn signals, wipers all work. The charging system does not currently work and I suspect it needs the generator replaced or repaired.
It has wire wheels (spokes) including a spare. The tyres all hold air but are quite old and need to be replaced. The right front tyre has a slow leak and goes flat after a week or so. There is spare rear glass included and a spare aluminum air cleaner duct as well as some other small bits and pieces.
Overall this car is a bit of a project but is in generally very good condition. It can be driven around just as it is but really needs tyres and the generator repaired before it's ready for a long trip.
