bringatrailer.com/listing/1960-jaguar-mk-ii-12/

Auction description:

3.8-Liter Inline-Six

Wilwood Front Disc Brakes

Burl Wood Interior Trim

JVC CD Stereo

Dual SU Carburetors

Private Party or Dealer: Private Party

Lot #126080

This 1960 Jaguar Mk II was refurbished under prior ownership with work including an overhaul of the 3.8-liter inline-six, a repaint in blue, an interior re-trim, and the installation of Wilwood front disc brakes in addition to a GM four-speed automatic transmission. Further equipment includes dual SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, dark blue leather upholstery, burl wood trim, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a JVC CD stereo. The car was acquired by the seller in 2022, and subsequent work involved installing a 123ignition distributor, mounting 15″ wire wheels, and replacing the wheel hubs. This Mk II is now offered in California with an owner’s manual, a service manual, refurbishment records, various spare parts, a spare set of four Minilite-style wheels, and a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.

The car was finished in yellow prior to it being repainted in blue following sheet metal repairs during the aforementioned refurbishment in 2014. Exterior details include a leaper hood ornament, pop-out vent windows, chrome-finished bumpers with overriders, and twin exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels were installed under current ownership, are secured with two-eared knock-off spinners, and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin Defender tires, while a spare with a Yokohama Ascend LX tire is stowed in the trunk. Braking is handled by four-wheel disc brakes with Wilwood front calipers. The hubs and rear wheel spats are said to have been replaced under current ownership, and an M & C Wilkinson rack-and-pinion steering conversion kit is included in the sale.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in dark blue leather, and burl wood trim accents the dash, window surrounds, and upper doors. Coco floor mats line the footwells, and appointments include a heater, three-point seatbelts for the front occupants, lap belts for the rear occupants, rear picnic trays, and a JVC CD stereo. The seller notes that there is a scuff on the carpet and the seat belt mechanisms stick.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline as well as an inset clock. Additional readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are centrally mounted in the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 13k miles, approximately 125 of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.8-liter inline-six is said to have been overhauled under prior ownership and features dual SU carburetors, a 123ignition distributor, and an aluminum radiator. The seller states that the engine wiring harness was replaced under prior ownership, and an oil change was carried out in January 2023.

The factory transmission has been removed and replaced with a GM 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. A stainless steel exhaust system is installed.

Photos taken during various stages of refurbishment work are provided along with refurbishment receipts.

Car returns to ebay 12/1/23

www.ebay.com/itm/256321216787

Opening bid $12,000, reserve not met, no bids yet, buy it now price $47,500 for 9 days, seller mdbrooks, same photos, car now said to be in Costa Mesa, California 112k miles

Seller's description essentially same as above with the following additions, appears to be same seller mdbrooks:

In my opinion the carbureators need to be rebuilt because there the idle is rough and it seems that the rear cylinders lack enough fuel. Off idle and driving the engine is as smooth as I expect. Compression is great and replacing the ignition helped considerable, but probably still needs carb rebuilds.

I am selling because I have a few old Rolls Royces and prefer to drive and tinker with those. This was a dream car that I have enjoyed.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
