For sale Online selling 7/13/2017

bringatrailer.com/listing/1960-jaguar-mk-ii-3/

This 1960 Jaguar MK2 is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, electric overdrive, power steering, and its original 3.8-liter straight-six. Shipped to Jaguar Cars in New York in January 1960 and first owned by a Maryland couple, it made its way to Vancouver Island and then in 1989 to Edmonton, Alberta where it remains today. Its previous owner was a collector car appraiser who used it sparingly for 15 years, then parked it due to health reasons from 2004 until its purchase by the seller in 2014. Refreshment over the following three years has included new engine seals and bearings, a rack and pinion steering conversion, and more as detailed below. The car is sold with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate along with records back to 1989 and an Alberta registration.Old English White paint appears to have been refinished approximately 25 years ago according to the seller. The car has reportedly seen fewer than 5k miles of fair-weather use since, with the finish said to present well overall as a result. Flaws shown in detail photos include touched-up chips along with peeling of painted undercoat from behind the front bumper and under the leading edge of the hood. A slight defect in the driver's door is not evident in photos and might suggest a past repair according to the seller.
The red leather interior is said to be original aside from replacement front floor mats. Photos show the condition of upholstery, woodwork, and carpeting along with detailing dash lettering and bright hardware including the ash tray interior. Sound insulation has been added to all doors and behind the rear seat. Some carpet discoloration is noted in the driver's footwell. Recent work included repair of the turn indicator switch to restore its self-cancelling function.
The 3.8-liter twin-cam six bears a matching number stamp as shown in the gallery and received freshening after the seller's acquisition in 2014. Installation of an oil seal conversion kit involved removal and disassembly of the engine along with machining of the crankshaft. New main, connecting rod, and camshaft bearings were also installed along with a replacement oil pump and fresh gaskets throughout. Twin SU carburetors were overhauled and draw fuel from a recently flushed tank via an electric pump and new steel lines.

Description same as above with the following additions:
The radiator was also flushed and fitted with new hoses. An electronic ignition was installed along with new spark plugs and battery. Fresh factory blue paint covers the cylinder head, which was reportedly reconditioned prior to 2006 along with replacement of the timing chain and sprockets. Underhood cosmetic improvements included light polishing of the cam shaft covers and air inlet along with ceramic coating of the exhaust manifold, which is connected to a stainless exhaust.

The engine number stamping LA 2565-8 correctly corresponds to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels by a 4-speed manual gearbox equipped with a Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive, which received a new overdrive solenoid prior to 2006 and an oil change in the last year. Other recent work includes replacement of the clutch plate, clutch master and slave cylinders, driveshaft U-joints, and all driveline lubricants. New rear engine mounts were also fitted. Underside photos show general condition of floors, chassis rails, and retained undercoating.

A rack and pinion steering conversion from XKs Unlimited has replaced the original Burman box. The power steering pump has also been rebuilt, and the upper ball joint boots are recent replacements. Brake reconditioning included a new master cylinder and booster. The seller has driven the car approximately 800 miles.

The trunk is photographed with its rubber mat and spare tire covered removed to show condition of the sheet metal underneath. A non-original but refurbished and complete factory tool kit is included along with a jack and brace.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate confirms the matching engine number and original colors. Receipts are included for the work carried out after the seller's acquisition in 2014 and from 1989-2006, during which time the car was maintained by a Jaguar specialist at Sports Car Centre in Edmonton. History prior to 1989 is largely unknown. Independent inspections for prospective bidders are encouraged by the seller, who is also happy to assist with shipping logistics at the buyer's cost. A 2.5% US import duty may be charged when the car crosses the Canadian border.

A 20-page professionally produced coffee table style book of this car is included in the sale.
