Car was at auction 11/22
www.handh.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-21---1962-jaguar-mkii-38/

Auction description:
30th Nov, 2022, Pavilion Gardens, Buxton
Lot 21, 1962 Jaguar MkII 3.8

1962 Jaguar MkII 3.8
Recently discovered, 'barn find' example
Estimated at £10,000 - £12,000
Registration No: 857 XVS
Chassis No: P207646BW
MOT: Exempt

Desirable UK-supplied 3.8 MkII offered in ‘barn find’ condition following recent unearthing!
Understood to be one owner from new and placed into dry storage in 1991
Recorded mileage of just 34,866 miles, which is reputed genuine
Supplied new by Henlys of London

Manufactured in 1962, chassis number P207646BW was first registered in the United Kingdom on the 16th of February that year, being supplied new via Henlys of London according to the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. Fitted from new with the 3781cc straight-six engine, it was initially allied to the automatic transmission, although at some stage of its life has since been converted to manual transmission with overdrive. Reputedly having just one owner from new, the Jaguar is understood to have been taken off the road in 1991. The recorded mileage of 34,866 miles, is believed, but not warranted to be genuine. Subject to some front-end damage while residing in the barn that it has recently recently been unearthed from, this ‘barn find’ example is ripe for restoration. We are informed that the engine turns over by hand, and ‘857 XVS’ is offered for sale with a current V5C document, Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a previous MOT certificate.

PLEASE NOTE: The registration number shown in the images is not included in the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
