This is a 1961 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 Manual with overdrive, finished in Opalescent Maroon, which works well with the Tan leather interior. The car has been off the road for a considerable time, but is in very good condition. It has recently come out of storage, and has had some light re-commissioning work done, though it will need to be fully checked over before it is used on the road.
The car has obviously been stored very well, as the body appears to be virtually rust free, and the paintwork is very good, though it looks to have been re-sprayed at some time. All the chrome work is very good, and the door rubbers, screen seals etc feel nice and soft. The chrome wire wheels are very reasonable, but the tyres are all old and cracked.
The interior is very good, the seats have been re-trimmed and still smell of new leather. The headlining is very good, as are the sun visors, the wood is good, and has been re-veneered at some time, and the carpets are also in very good condition. The door cards look as though they were re-newed when the seats were done as they are finished in the same leather.
Mechanically, the engine runs very well, with good oil pressure, the gearbox seems fine, and the overdrive works as it should. The car drives very well, and the brakes seem to be functioning correctly.
This is a very good example of a 3.8 Mk2 Jaguar, that only needs a small amount of work to make it into a very usable car. It is not a matching numbers car. This car is being sold without reserve.
