Car to be at auction 5/13
classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php

Auction description:
Lot number 30
Hammer value N/S (est. £10,000 - £12,000)
Description Jaguar MkII 340 MOD
Registration MHP 202F
Year 1968
Colour British Racing Green
Engine size 3,447 cc
Chassis No. P1551750DN
Engine No. 7551998-8

This particular manual overdrive 340 was first registered in Kenilworth in May 1968 and has had just five owners to date, the current lady owner acquiring it back in 1998. During her 15-year ownership the car has been in regular light use and is said to have always proved totally reliable and been a pleasure to drive, especially with factory power steering fitted.

The indicated mileage of just over 75,000 is said to be genuine and is backed up by the original service book which is stamped 19 times up to November 1980 at 59,284 miles (at which point the book runs out of pages) plus many old MOTs. Although the body and paintwork could now do with some minor attention here and there, the car is said to be very sound with an excellent chassis that has been regularly treated with rust-proofer.

Taxed until December and MOTd until next January, the car is ready to drive away today and is only reluctantly being sold due to the advancing years of the owner.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
