Auction description:
Charterhouse Auctioneers
Estimate £18,000 - £22,000

A 1967 Jaguar MkII 340 automatic saloon, registration number YND 768F, chassis number P1J51171BW, engine number 7J51459-8, Jaguar Phoenix red. This beautifully presented MkII has been restored to a high standard at a cost of nearly £20,000. During the restoration the body was fully stripped and a bare metal windows out respray was undertaken. The interior has been re-trimmed in black leather, a new headlining installed and the wood veneers have been refurbished. All of the running gear has seen similar attention, with the engine being completely rebuilt, the brakes were overhauled all round with new calipers and discs, the suspension was refreshed with new bushes and shock absorbers plus numerous other components and consumables too numerous to mention here but our vendor would say it would be easier to say what has not been replaced rather than what has been replaced. The accompanying history file contains receipts for the restoration and maintenance, handbooks and a workshop manual. This beautifully presented MkII is reluctantly for sale due to health issues and represents a well restored and presented example of the ever popular sports saloon. V5C, MOT and tax exempt

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
