Ebay item 8/31/20www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Jaguar-420-Leather/363091083271
Opening bid US $9,999, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction, seller joholl2056, 63k miles.
Seller's description;
I am so pleased to offer this 2 owner from new gem! With a little over 10,000 built between 1966 and 1968, this S-Type successor is definitely a rare beast. The last of the famed MK2 derivatives, it boasts XKE underpinnings with 60’s flair.
The interior is completely original, down to the carpets (discoloured but could be re dyed), headliner (perfect), wood dash (minor crackling in varnish), Factory radio (non functional) and sumptuous Connolly hide that shows a great patina of originality for someone who can enjoy an unrestored car.
Mechanically the Jag is very sound with 63,000 miles, perfect oil pressure, and no abnormal sounds from the engine. The ignition system has been recently serviced with new points but it will benefit from a general tune up.
The original transmission shifts as it should in all gears with slight play in the steering column lever which would benefit from adjustment.
Suspension rides smooth. Brakes are firm a bit noisy up front from little usage (will need to be checked). Exhaust line is believed to be original(!). It is not perforated but rusty.
All the electrical accessories are functional including horn, lights and flashers. Gauges are functional but electronic rev counter is optimistic. Speedometer needle bounces over 50 miles/hour but the Jag will cruise with assurance and stability.
Fuel gages needs to be repaired but the vehicle is equipped with 2 separate tanks from the factory using a toggle switch on the dashboard.
This rare vehicle comes with:
-COMPLETE factory tool kit (this by itself is worth a little fortune in classic flea markets)
-original Avon spare wheel and jack, and tool
-dealer maintenance booklets
-complete service shop manual that can also supply a wealth of information on MK2 and S-Type maintenance provided by an ex BMC dealership mechanic
This stunning vehicle is 52 years old and will come with no form of warranty and is described in the best of my knowledge as an honest, original driver.

Write up on Kijiji:
John

This 1968 Jaguar 420 has spent its life in Canada and was acquired by the current owner in 2020, reportedly from its second owner of 42 years. The car is finished in dark blue over a gray interior and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Recent work included cleaning the carburetor and replacing the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. This Jaguar 420 is now offered on dealer consignment with service records, manufacturer’s literature, a toolkit, a spare set of hubcaps, and Quebec registration.
The car is said to have been repainted in its current dark blue in 1981 and features chrome bumpers, trim, and side mirrors. The seller notes touch-up on the driver’s door.
The 15″ steel wheels wear faux-wire hubcaps and are mounted with Firestone Precision Touring tires that measure 205/70. Rust is noted on the brake discs, and a set of chrome hubcaps is included in the sale.
The interior is upholstered in gray leather with matching door panels and features a contrasting black dashboard with wood trim. Wear is noted on the front seat upholstery, and the seller states that the clock and radio are inoperable.
A two-spoke steering wheel with a chrome ring frames instrumentation that consists of a 140-mph speedometer and a 5,500 rpm-tachometer. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the current owner. True mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The spark plugs were replaced and the carburetors were recently cleaned and adjusted. The seller notes black smoke upon startup, and that an oil change was recently performed in preparation of the sale.
Rust is present in the driver’s side footwell and on the jacking points. Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a toolkit are included in the sale.
