This 1967 Jaguar S-Type was purchased by its current owner in San Diego, California during the late 1970s and received new upholstery in 1984 prior to being driven to New York five years later. It is finished in white over black leather and powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a factory automatic transmission. An Alpine cassette player has been installed. The car reportedly was stored for the past five years and was recently serviced with a new battery and mechanical work as described below. This Jaguar is now offered on dealer consignment with transferable New York registration.

According to the seller, this Jaguar appears to have been repainted many years ago. Photos highlight the condition of the exterior. Cosmetic imperfections include paint chips, flaking on the hood edges, a weathered windshield seal, cracked paint on the driver-side rear wheel-well lip, flaws around the rear license-plate area, spots of rust on various corners, and other blemishes as shown in the gallery.

The brakes are said to have been serviced after the vehicle was pulled out of storage three months ago. 205/70 Michelin MXV4 tires are mounted on the factory painted 15″ wheels, which have chrome hubcaps. Each wheel shows wear and is depicted up close in the gallery. The full-size spare wheel is also mounted on a Michelin tire and sits next to a jack in the trunk. This car is said to have been featured in the 1999 film Some Fish Can Fly.

The headliner was replaced and new black upholstery was fitted in 1984 while the car resided with the current owner in San Diego. An Alpine AM/FM radio and cassette player is equipped.

Factory wood trim adorns the dashboard, window frames, and door-panel tops. A two-spoke steering wheel is present along with factory switchgear, auxiliary gauges, and main instrumentation. The five-digit odometer shows just under 18k miles, although true mileage is unknown.

The 3.8-liter straight-six sends power rearward through a column-shifted automatic transmission. After the car was removed from storage earlier this year, the fuel tank was drained, the fuel filter cleaned, the carburetors serviced, an engine oil change performed, and the battery replaced.

Car now offered at:

www.hemmings.com/auction/1967-jaguar-s-type-821625

Seller's description:

British Sporting Luxury: 1967 Jaguar 3.8S Sedan

Vehicle Location Bend, Oregon

Seller METOLIUS

VIN P1B78997BW

Mileage 17,895 (TMU)

Engine 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six

Transmission Automatic

Exterior Color British Racing Green

Interior Black leather

The selling dealer of this clean, left-hand drive 1967 Jaguar 3.8S Sedan identifies the vehicle as “original, with one repaint to the original paint code.” Minor needs are identified in the description.

This 1967 S-Type Sedan features a 3.8-liter engine and an automatic transmission.

The vehicle is described as “original” by the seller, with one repaint in the factory color.

The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six is described by the seller as original.

New, this engine was rated at 220 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque.

Fuel is fed through two fuel pumps from two independent tanks.

Power goes to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.

The British Racing Green exterior displays “no scratches or dents,” in the seller’s words.

All brightwork, glass, and lights appear complete in the photos provided.

Some slight damage is seen in the vertical grille bars.

Front and rear window gaskets were replaced when the car was repainted.

Light surface corrosion can be seen on the underside edges of the front bumper.

Black leather covers the seats and door panels, with no reported or observed damage.

Wood trim on the dashboard and windowsills is likely birds eye maple.

All gauges and controls are believed to be working.

The odometer reads 17,895 miles, although the true mileage may not be known.

The undercarriage appears to present cleanly with some surface rust on components.

Steel 15-inch wheels display polished center caps and trim rings.

One of the two fuel pumps needs attention according to the seller.

The grille bars require light repairs.

Parts provided need to be installed in the hood lock.

A chrome trim strip is missing from the front passenger’s-side door.

New door window gaskets are also provided and need to be installed.

The selling dealer states that it will provide a clean Oregon title for the proper transfer of ownership for this vehicle. This original and cosmetically clean 1967 Jaguar 3.8S Sedan, with a Jaguar XK 3.8-Liter DOHC six-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission, appears to be a very good example of a transitional Jaguar sedan that never received much attention in the U.S.

Asking Price $14,000
