Auction description:
Lot number 114
Hammer value £20,000
Description Jaguar MkII 3.4 Saloon
Registration 681 UKJ
Year 1961
Colour Metallic Dark Red
Engine size 3,442 cc
Chassis No. P156803BW
Engine No. KW1526-8

First registered in September 1961, this 3.4 Automatic has covered just 63,000 miles to date and comes with a very large history file from new to warrant this total. With just five owners in total it has been in the current ownership since July 2007 and was recently treated to a full engine and gearbox rebuild, the original 3-speed 'box being replaced with an improved 4-speed unit. Since the engine rebuild the car has only covered around 1,500 miles.

The braking system has also been fully overhauled with new discs, pads and callipers all round. New chrome wire wheels have been fitted and the car is said to be in beautiful condition throughout with excellent chromework and Metallic Maroon paint. The original red leather interior has been refurbished with new carpets and fur flex and is also in fine order. Due to have a fresh MOT before the sale, the car is said to drive beautifully.

AMENDMENT: Prospective bidders may be interested to know that the reconditioned four-speed Borg Warner gearbox comes with a two-year guarantee that runs until January 2016.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
