Ebay item 10/13/11

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-1967-420G-left-hand-drive-/190586266163

Current bid $5,655.55 reserve not met, 17 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:

JAGUAR 420G

COLOR: BRITISH RACING GREEN

CAR# G1D77374BW

BODY# 4D56995

ENGINE# 7D570439

AUTO TRANSMISSION# 21493(GEARBOX NUMBER)

LEFT HAND DRIVE

AIR CONDITIONED.

CURRENT OWNER: xxxx (NAPA,CA.)

I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM BRITISH MOTORS IN SAN FRANCISCO IN THE SUMMER OF 1972. IT HAD BEEN TRADED IN FOR A NEW XJ6. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 18,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER . THERE HAVE BEEN THREE MODIFICATIONS FROM THE ORIGINAL. THE RADIO HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A BLAUPUNKT(AND NEW SPEAKERS, BUT I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL RADIO AND SPEAKERS), THE RADIO AERIAL HAS BEEN REPLACED AND MOVED FORWARD ON THE FENDER, AND SOME OF THE ORIGINAL LEATHER HAS BEEN REPLACED.

I DROVE THE CAR AS AN EVERYDAY CAR UNTIL 1984,AND THEN WHEN I PURCHASED A SUBURBAN, I STILL DROVE THE 420G WHENEVER I WENT TO SAN FRANCISCO, SINCE THE SUBURBAN WAS NOT ACCEPTED IN PARKING LOTS.

IN THE LAST 6 YEARS I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT 2000 MILES, AND NOW WITH ITS NEW, BEAUTIFUL PAINT JOB, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR IT WILL GET DINGED (ASSUMING I SELL IT).

THE ODOMETER NOW SHOWS 95054 MILES.

I HAVE HAD NO MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR.

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ONE HEAD GASKET.REPLACE ONE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR, AND HAD TO PULL AND REPAIR THE RADIATOR ONCE.

I HAVE REPLACED EACH FUEL PUMP ONCE.

I USED THE BRITISH LEYLAND CONVERSION KIT IN THE 1970'S AND EVER SINCE HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR WITH REGULAR UNLEADED GASOLINE.

I JUST HAD ALL THREE CARBURETOR FLOATS REPLACED.

ANY BODY DAMAGES HAVE ALL OCCURRED IN PARKING LOTS: TWO MINOR DINGS AND A NEW GRILL (I GAVE MY OLD, DAMAGED ONE TO RICK CUSACK OF THE SALOONS LIST FOR HIS 1ST 420G)

IN THE LAST 2000 MILES I HAD THE FRONT STEERING AND SUSPENSION REDONE AND REPLACED.

THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAINTED TWICE (THE LAST TIME VERY RECENTLY) WHEN I STRIPPED ALL OF THE OLD PAINT OFF (NO RUST), REPAINTED IT TO MATCH ITS ORIGINAL COLOR AND HAD IT RUBBED OUT.

I HAVE REFINISHED (BUT NOT REVEENRED) MUCH OF THE WOOD.

IT HAS NEW WINTON WOOL HEADLINER AND A PORTION OF THE FRONT SEATS HAVE NEW LEATHER.THE REAR SEATS ARE THE ORIGINAL LEATHER.

THERE ARE NEW STAINLESS STEEL MUFFLERS AND EXAUSTS.

I HAVE JUST REPLACED THE DOOR AND WINDOW RUBBER AND EXCEPT FOR THE WING VENTS ALL WENT SMOOTHLY.

IT HAS REALLY BEEN A FINE AUTOMOBILE,THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED AND CARED FOR.

MY CLOCK GAVE UP THE GHOST A FEW YEARS AGO AND THE ONLY OTHER MINOR PROBLEM THAT I CAN IDENTIFY THAT NEEDS REPAIR IS THE FRONT AIR SCUTTLE.

IT ONLY OPENED HALF WAY SO I TOOK IT OUT AND CLEANED, OILED AND REPLACED IT NOW IT BARELY OPENS.

I HAD THE VACUUM CHECKED AND IT IS INTACT. I'LL GET AROUND TO REPAIRING IT OR A NEW OWNER SHOULD FIND THIS AN EASY FIX.

IT HAS LESS THAN 100MI ON THE FRONT TIRES AND LESS THAN 500MI ON THE REAR TIRES.

This BEAUTIFUL and RARE Jaguar 420 G hails largely from California, the car has zero rust and no signs of accident history.

The car was obtained from Classic Showcase Inc. (known for their high quality Jaguar cars) by a local and fastidious collector of Rolls Royce and Jaguar classic cars. The car came to Nashville as a well preserved example of a rare production model. The new owner, like most of us car collectors wanted his Jaguar MKX to be as close to perfect as one can make a 55 year old Jaguar.During his five year ownership he invested $22180.49 in servicing and upgrading the car.Despite the fact that he owns more than 20 classic Rolls Royce and Jaguar cars, he enjoyed driving this car above others in the collection. His time, effort and funds toward the improvement of the model is now offered here for the next custodian. Reason for selling? Out of garage space.

Note how straight the body panels are and how clean and straight the panel gaps are.Note the beautiful refinished wood throughout the interior. The original leather is still in good order, soft, supple and intact.

Everything mechanical is sorted and in order. The air conditioning is cold and works as designed.

Gauges are in excellent condition and in proper working order. Paint is excellent.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
