Car was at auction 9/10
www.barons-auctions.com/details.php

Auction description:
Lot No: 108
Manufacturer Jaguar Cars
Model MKX/420G
First Registered 1967
Registration No RAB676F
Engine No 7D56463-8
Chassis No GID54115BW
MOT May 2011
Colour Warwick Grey
Offered here is a 1967 420G in its original Warwick grey with navy blue hide. It would appear to be an original example and is in excellent, very sound condition. It is offered complete with the original service booklet and 12 previous MoT certificates, dating back to 1978, plus a current MoT through to May 2011.

Described as being a very sound, predominately original example, this 420G offers an opportunity to own and use the car while improving it. The paintwork is good, as is the chrome and the car is on the button. This model has been grossly undervalued in the past but nice examples are now making up to £20,000. Barons has recently sold two examples for £11,000 and £13,000, so this example offers really good value.

Note: On examining the history of this car the vendor believes that the indicated 90,000 miles may well be correct but he is unable to warrant this. He also states that the car is complete with the original tool kit.

Estimate £6500-7500

'RAB 676F' was first registered on August 21st 1967 and sports Warwick Grey coachwork. The first stub in the accompanying service voucher book is stamped Hewitts Garages Ltd of Amblecote - suggesting they could have been the supplying dealer. Having spent some three-and-a-half years in the Worcester area, the Jaguar moved with Michael Gardner to Devon, where it appears to have remained into 1980 - the 1980/1981 MOT carried out by Hills of Sidmouth quotes the mileage as 78,180. Since 2004, the car has been MOT'd in the Liverpool/Manchester area and the certificate issued in May this year quotes the mileage at 89,451. These mileages are unwarranted, but could well be correct. The 420G comes complete with a continuation green logbook, V5C Registration Document, original Maintenance Vouchers booklet, Sales and Service Facilities brochure, plus assorted MOTs dating back to 1978.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
