Ebay item 1/14/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1961-Jaguar-MK-IX-Saloon-Mark-9-Nine-Jag-Collector-Estat ...
Current bid $12,877 reserve not met, 14 bids 8 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1961 Jaguar MK IX (Mark Nine).
Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this fine vehicle. This vehicle was from California and now is located in the Cleveland, Ohio area. This particular vehicle was built at the very end of the production run of the Mark IX. Chassis Number: 793978BW (Number 43 from end of production.)
We are not sure when and who did the restoration on this fine vehicle. It is still in great shape and would be an outstanding blue chip vehicle in anyone's collection. This vehicle needs nothing. No stories, No excuses, No surprises. Do let this one get away.

Body & Paint:
The body in finished in a rich dark grey color. The paint is in great shape without any chips, scratches, checking, orange peel, or hazing. Unsure when the vehicle was painted and with what type of paint. There are no signs of any past or present problems or repairs. The body panel fit is good. It retains all the correct Mark IX emblems and trim.

Chrome & Trim:
All of the chrome items are in excellent condition without any pitting, scratches or dulling. (Bumpers, window trim, door handles, mirrors, emblems, grille, light housings, etc.) The correct stainless steel trim is present and is in great shape also with no dings or scratches.

Interior:
The interior is in great shape. The grey leather seats were redone and are in excellent condition. (No marks, rips, or holes.) The door panels, headliner, and carpet are also all new and are near perfect. The Walnut wood trim looks to be original and only has a few small scratches. The wood finish still looks very good. The wood dash area is also very good without any cracks. The steering wheel is also in good shape and is crack free. The interior chrome hardware is also very good. As far as we can tell, everything is in working order. (Lights, gauges, radio, horn, wipers, etc..) The factory fitted steel sunroof also works fine. Floor mats and seatbelts were added, but could be removed for the Jaguar purest. This vehicle was built as a "Left Hand Drive", LHD. Jaguar did not produce as many LHD vehicles as they did the Right Hand Drive vehicles.

Engine Compartment:
Under the hood sits a 3.8L (3891cc) 220hp DOHC straight-6 engine. Believed to be the original engine. Bolted to this power plant is the factory Borg Warner Three-Speed Automatic transmission. (Remember, Vehicle Chassis Number: 793978BW. The "BW" stands for Borg Warner.) The engine runs great with no know problems. It does not smoke, tick, or hesitate. The transmission shift out well with no problems. The engine compartment look very stock. The exhaust manifold was been redone with a black porcelain coating. A new battery is installed. The power steering also is working as should.

Wheels & Tires:
Factory looking Firestone wide white wall tires are mounted on the factory steel wheels. These rims are painted the same color as the vehicle and are not chipped or have anyother problems. The original stainless steel hubcaps are in great shape without any dings or scratches. The center "Jaguar" emblems are also in good shape. The Firestone tires are in near new condition with very little miles on them.

Trunk Compartment:
Clean and factory looking. The tan trunk mat and liner are new and are perfect. Along with the spare tire, it also has the original jack and jacking tools.

Glass:
Not sure if the glass pieces are still original. They are in great shape with no cracks, chips, scratches or foggy areas. The side windows roll down and up without any problems. All of the chrome window hardware trim and handles are in near perfect condition.

Frame & Undercarriage:
The frame and undercarriage are very solid. It looks like it was undercoated many years ago. Looking at the frame, you can see it doesn't have any rust pit marks or scaling rust problems. Again, from the limited history we have on this vehicle, we know it was from the California area at one time. (We don't know the rest of the 50 plus years of history.) A new stainless exhaust system was recently installed. The factory Dunlop 4 wheel disc brakes are working great. The vehicle rides and drives beautifully without any noise or rattles. It does not pull, shake, or shimmy.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
