Current bid $1,825 reserve not met 10 bids 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
very nicely restored 1959 Jaguar Mark IX. The previous owner restored the car.
The original engine was replaced with a Chevrolet 350 with 11,000 miles on it. The odometer reads 42,240. The transmission was replaced with a GM 350. This MKIX starts, runs and drives, and stops very well and reliably. The GM transmission was also rebuilt before installation. The brakes are new Ford brakes front and rear with new calipers, brake lines and hoses. The brake power booster is Cadillac. The suspension is original. All of the other undercarriage items are original
including the Jaguar rearend. The radiator has been redone and is original. The car has air shocks.
The rearend is still the original Jaguar as is the rest of the undercarriage. Most of the undercarriage has been repainted and looks solid and clean. Floors, trunk, and frame are solid.
The body is in excellent condition with the paint being nice and shiney. The front and rear bumpers
have been rechromed. The stainless is in good condition but some of the other chrome pieces have some minor pitting. The glass is all good and the windows operate well. The body is very solid . The
trunk area has been redone and looks great. The dual exhaust is almost new with chrome tips. The
engine compartment is clean and painted. The tires are WWW radials and the car rides nicely. The original hubcaps are in good shape but 1 has a rusty area and 1 has a little chrome missing.
The interior is in very nicely restored. The seats are very comfortable and look amazing. The head-liner has been redone and looks original. New carpet. The door panels are redone. The original walnut interior wood trim was painstakingly redone and adds elegance to the interior look. Four people can really enjoy the riding experience in this '59 Jaguar.
As far as what works: the following items work: speedo (but erratic), brake lights, fuel guage, oil pressure guage, water temp guage, amp guage, wipers, dash lights, map light, heater and fan, all windows and doors work great, hood and trunk lid, rear dome lights, 2 of 3 cigarette lighters, all turn signals and dashboard indicators, headlights and taillights, fog lights.
The following do not work: cruise control(speed-hold), horn, clock, no radio, e-brake.
This 1959 Jaguar can be enjoyed right away. This Mark IX is a very classy and elegant car indeed.
The shiney white paint and chrome really stand out. I get many looks and thumbs up driving this rare car around town. The car starts, runs and drives, and stops nicely. Rides smoothly and solidly too.
I have not driven this Jaguar extensively on the highway but the couple of out-of-town trips I did take with the car, the car drove just fine. I drive the car often, mostly in town. I love being seen in this one. This 1959 Jaguar Mark IX is qiute the attention getter.
