Classic style and race-proven performance engineering come together in this 1958 Jaguar Mk IX Saloon that was the last iteration of a long line of traditional large sedans before Jaguar ended production and introduced the more modern Mark X as its replacement. The luxurious and elegant performance saloon underwent a comprehensive restoration for a return to its original handcrafted condition. Jaguar Mk IX sedans destined for use in the American market were outfitted with a 3.8L inline 6-cylinder engine that was a performance upgrade over the previous year's configuration. With dual overhead camshafts and twin SU side-draft carburetors, the engine sent 220 HP and 240 lb-ft of torque through the standard BorgWarner 3-speed automatic transmission. Burman power steering worked with the double-wishbone torsion-bar suspension, elliptical-spring rigid rear axle and 4-wheel hydraulic disc brakes for grand-touring road control and traditional long-wheelbase saloon ride quality. Performance was improved as Mark tradition carried on. The classic long-nose saloon body is finished into two-tone blue over blue paint that complements the handsome upright yet sleek and curvy design. The formal black interior is upholstered in Connolly leather over deep-cushion seating and body-color-harmonized wool carpeting. Handcrafted and fitted burled-Walnut wood flows from the door pillars, dashboard and built-in rear seat-mounted folding picnic tables. The dash-inset clock and radio keep time and entertainment. A Large 4-spoke steering wheel with column shift waits for driver command over the road ahead and Lucas fog lamps supplement main headlamps for clear vision in inclement weather. Jaguar has always built some fine sedans, and few look better than this Mk IX Saloon.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
