Ebay item 4/20/08 www.c4rg.org/jaguar
History and Detail of this Vehicle:
This car was purchased by my father in 1961 and has always been in the family. The car was driven by my mother as the family car until 1968 when it broke down. My father spent a number of years working at rebuilding it, but unfortunately the car has remained unfinished in my mother’s garage for about 25 years, at which time it moved to mine. Like my father, I had great dreams of restoring this amazing Jaguar Saloon car, known as one of the “big cats”. However, due to my lack of time and mechanical prowess, the car has been in my garage in pretty much the same shape since 2006.
The engine was rebuilt and reinstalled into the car. It still needs a number of finishing mechanical touches, such as reinstalling the belts, battery, plugs and wires, blower, etc. I hand-turned the engine to make sure it was not seized (it actually turned fairly easily).
Most of the exterior chrome is in reasonable shape. However, some has a “bubbled” texture to it as comes with age. For a complete restoration, the buyer may want to re-chrome some parts.
The interior of the car was gutted, and only the driver’s door was re-upholstered. But it appears that all of the wood interior pieces (most all of which are still beautiful) are included (see pictures). The leather seats are in pretty good shape.
For restoration, this vehicle will need someone who is serious about rebuilding the interior of the car. It will also need new tires all around, and the wheel rims should be refinished (painted). The entire exterior will need to be compounded down and re-polished for a reasonable appearance, or completely repainted (better). I have only found minor rust spots on the car body, the one pictured is under the passenger door. However, any rust I've seen appears to be surface only (not eaten through).
There are also the original maintenance, repair manuals and spare parts catalogues included.

I purchased this car May 17, 2008 from the son of the original owner in Round Rock (near Austin), Texas. This car was listed on eBay for a time although I purchased it privately. The photos and information here are from that eBay auction. According to previous owner, the car was stored since 1968. Various things were restored or worked on over the years, including an engine and transmission rebuild, new carpets, headliner, and door panels. Upon buying, I repainted her Old English White, got it running, and am now rebuilding the brake system as of December 2008. I've reinstalled all of the wood and various other things that were removed from the car, and the seats are currently being redone in Red leather. Look for more progress soon.
