Originally purchased in 1969 by the current owner from his brother, this fabulous Mark IX has excellent pedigree and history. If you have found yourself at a couple JCNA concours shows in the past couple of decades, then most likely you have seen this gorgeous Mark IX in person. The current owner states "The car has been exhibited a great deal in the last 25 years, mainly in Jaguar Club of America concours. In the early years, as I learned the rules and made improvements, it garnered 2nd and 3rd place finishes. It was competing against experienced exhibitors with excellent cars which didn't beat my IX by much. Over time I was able to bring quality of the car up and learned more about preparation." Over the last 25 years the Mark IX accumulated over thirty 1st in class awards and has won several of the biannual national contests. All awards, official score sheets and JCNA plates are included with the purchase of the car.
Finished in code correct Claret over Imperial Maroon over a Connolly leather maroon correct interior that features rear tables, Wilton Wool carpeting. The paint shows beautifully with only small minor imperfections visible upon close examination. Body fit and finish is quite good with no issues that we have found. Car also boasts extremely nice chrome and trim.
The Mark IX has been upgraded with the polarity changed to negative ground and electric ignition. The original configuration is still available from the current owner.

This 1959 Jaguar MK IX is said to have been purchased new in Georgia and spent time in Missouri prior to its acquisition by the seller in 2017. The car was refurbished under previous ownership, and it is finished in two-tone burgundy. Power is from a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a column-shifted three-speed automatic transmission, and equipment includes 16″ wheels, red leather upholstery, rear-passenger picnic tables, and an Intermediate Speed Hold system. Recent service is said to include replacing the power steering pump and lines. This MK IX is now offered in Colorado with records, memorabilia and awards, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in burgundy with lighter lower accents and chrome trim. Exterior equipment includes driving lamps, fender mirrors, chrome bumpers with overriders, and taillights with separate turn-signal indicators. The seller notes swirl marks and scratches in the paint as well as pitting on the taillights and the front door handles.
Body-color 16″ wheels feature Jaguar hubcaps and polished trim rings, while older BFGoodrich Silverstone whitewall bias-ply tires are mounted at all four corners. The seller recommends replacing the tires due to age. The MK IX features four-wheel disc brakes, and recent service reportedly includes replacing the power steering pump and the high-pressure lines.
The cabin features burgundy leather upholstery on the front and rear bench seats as well as matching door panels, carpets, and floor mats. Equipment includes front and rear folding armrests, dual gloveboxes, front and rear vent windows, and a radio with a chipped button. An analog clock and folding picnic tables are mounted behind the front bench, and the car features an Intermediate Speed Hold system that can lock the transmission in second gear. The seller notes scratches and chips on the burl wood dashboard, and the Intermediate Speed Hold escutcheon is cracked.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a gear selector and a gear-position indicator, while Smiths instrumentation includes a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter XK inline-six was factory rated at 220 horsepower. The seller recommends adjusting the choke mechanism.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission.
The sale includes records, literature, and memorabilia. Several Best in Class awards from Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d’Elegance are also included.
