Car to be at auction 4/14
www.classic-auctions.com/Auctions/24-04-2014-ImperialWarMuseumDuxford-1365/1959J ...

Auction description:
Lot Number: 52
1959 Jaguar MK IX
Estimate: (£) 12,000 - 14,000
Reg Number: WYK 300
Chassis Number: 771540BW
Engine Number: NC-3551-8
Cc: 3781
Body Colour: Dove Grey / Mist Grey
Trim Colour: Grey
MOT ExpiryDate: Sept 2014

A RHD home market example finished in Dove Grey / Mist Grey with grey leather, 'WYK 300' benefitted from an engine overhaul in 2011 which included the fitting of an XJ6 cylinder head. The car also features an all-synchromesh manual XJ6 overdrive gearbox, 4.09:1 rear axle ratio, XJ-S brakes, stainless exhaust and Koni shock absorbers whilst a set of rare Reuter reclining seats grace the retrimmed leather interior. The vendor has enjoyed the car in club touring events and is only offering it reluctantly for sale due to his advancing years. He describes the bodywork as "good", the paintwork and engine to be very good and the woodwork as being in very good condition,. Offered with Swansea V5 document, MoT to 1st September and road fund licence to 31st August, the sensible modifications make this an extremely useable example of Jaguar's final incarnation of its separate chassis saloon design.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
