This very rare Jaguar Mark VII 'M' is an automatic example and when it was purchased by the present owner in 1990 it was believed to have covered only 26200 miles from new and it did not appear to have been taxed for the road since 1961.
This was seemingly a rust free car in very good original condition when the present owner bought it and although it did benefit from a current M.O.T. at the time it needed some re-furbishment which was undertaken over the next nine years. The work consisted of an interior re-trim, the wood was re-finished and it was resprayed; the chrome work, the engine, the brakes and the electrics were overhauled and the tyres and the exhaust were renewed. It was then rustproofed and the private owner did lots of polishing to bring the car back to its former glory.
The car now is in outstanding condition throughout and being an ''M'' it boasts the 190 b.h.p. engine, as fitted to the XK140, the servo assisted brakes, spotlights and improved bumpers. It is finished in Warwick Grey and this is complimented by an excellent Saville Grey leather interior and trim and since 1990 she has only covered a mere 300 dry miles. She is presented today with a current M.O.T. certificate until March 2000 and a current road fund licence until December this year.
A delightful and very rare car in excellent condition which is a must for the serious Jaguar collector and we have no reason to disbelieve the owner when he states that he thinks the current mileage of 26433 miles is genuine.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
