This car is being sold as a restoration project. It is NOT a running car.

I have owned this car since 1970. Car is in original gray paint as is the gray interior. The Engine and Gearbox are original to the car. All the numbers match up. It was running when I bought it and I drove it for about two years. There was no rear end noise and the car was quiet on the road. The engine is rebuilt but it has not been started since the rebuild. Has new clutch. Brakes have been relined but are not installed. Rebuild kits are included in the sale. Rear Springs are rebuilt. Brake drums are in very good condition. Transmission quiet does not stick in any gear and OD works. The chrome in respectable condition and a NOS front bumper and 4 NOS over riders with the rubber spacers are included as well as a NOS bonnet motif. New front and rear chrome spears are included. NOS Wiper Motor and Mount installed. Wire wheels are of French Manufacture and the name ROBERGEL is on the rear two hubcaps. One wheel needs a few spokes replaced but otherwise all are in good condition. Dash is complete with all switches, knobs and instruments. Headliner is intact with no tears or stains just age. Outside needs work as the photos show. I have both rear wheel fender skirts and one extra. The interior floor and the trunk area are rust free with no holes. The body needs work as there are some minor dents and some rust through on the rockers and the rear wings. Left rear quarter badly damaged but NOS quarter panel is included in the sale. The interior is complete with all the wood, instrumentation and seating. Seats need recovering and needs carpets. New gray door wind lace included. All the NOS Parts in the photos go with the car. Most of these parts are impossible to locate anymore especially the steering components. Part number is still visible on the NOS Left Rear Wing. There are other used parts that will go with the car.

As the Heritage Certificate confirms, this lovely MkVII was built in March 1954 finished in Birch Grey with a blue leather interior and manual overdrive transmission. Somewhat unusually for a factory right-hand drive model, it was destined for the American market and was dispatched to the Hoffman dealership of New York in April 1954.

Little is known of the subsequent history of the car, but it must have led a sheltered life in a nice dry part of the States judging by the arrow-straight bodywork and the excellent state of preservation underneath. Repainted to a high standard at some point in the not-too-distant past, it returned to the UK in May 2015 since when it has been completely retrimmed inside with new pale blue leather seat covers, new carpets, new headlining and gleaming new woodwork.

Fitted with a sliding steel sunroof, stainless steel exhaust system and period bolt-on wire wheels which lend a sporting look, it retains its original wheel-changing kit along with some of the smaller tools housed in a compartment inside of the driver's door. Documentation includes a V5C, US Certificate of Title, import papers, NOVA reference and the aforementioned Heritage Certificate.

Running very sweetly as we moved it around for these photos and showing some 49,750 miles on the clock, it has covered some 3,000 trouble-free miles since arriving back on these shores. A 'matching numbers' machine in sparkling condition throughout, it still oozes grace, has oodles of space and sufficient pace to hold its own in modern traffic.

Don't be fooled by the bulk: Rowan Atkinson races a MkVII Jag as did Stirling Moss - blokes who know a good car when they see one.
