Car to be at Coy's auction 5/10
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

Auction description:
1949 Jaguar Mk V 3.5 Litre Saloon
Lot 105
Registration Number: EU taxes paid
Chassis Number: 620868

The example on offer today was originally manufactured in 1949 and shipped to Brisbane Australia. It was discovered as a ‘barn find’ in Australia and was restored prior to 1992, when it was exported back to the U.K and imported on a C&E 388 document. David Hutcheson obtained the car in August 1993 and this transaction is supported by a Bill of Sale in the history file. Despite evidently being a restored car, in typical Hutcheson fashion the car was meticulously inspected and all faults were noted with the intention to ‘refettle’ the car into concours condition. Work commenced but David’s illness prevented the completion of the detail work and the car is now offered at ‘No reserve’ in a partially dismantled state together with a number of useful spares. A Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust authentication certificate accompanies the car along with a history file that includes invoices for restoration work carried out both in Australia (including full retrim and major engine work) and the United Kingdom (including new wiring loom). With current market values for these imposing early Jaguars on a steep ascent, here is a great opportunity to acquire what should ultimately become a first class example. Offered strictly ‘as seen’.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
